Glad to see they kept the crappy AC / Heating units and decided to get rid of the balconies, said no Funkhouser ever.

It looks like they ripped off the NOBU Tower styling for furniture. See new Linq rooms below

Looks good enough that i might stay there but then again at 82$ that makes it more than Flamingo/bally's/harrah's/Rio

Didn't they spend the last year renovating the hotel and the rooms?

Some rooms were upgraded in the past year. This is probably an attempt to justify their spending more money to upgrade the hotel, esp the rooms. Something that should have been done when it was the Quad IMHO.

Doesn't seem like they fully completed the renovations and they are already changing the name of the place. I visited the place last month and it didn't have a good flow into the casino like it had before. When it was the IP, there was a central entrance which took you into the casino, with the front desk on the side and elevators in the back side. When I visited in June, there were entrances from the Linq wheel side and I think the Harrahs CC side but then it was hard to navigate inside the place unless you knew your way around. They still had some places blocked off or boarded in so the reno still didn't seem complete yet.

But then as the sayin goes, you can put lipstick on a pig......

I'm guessing that they weren't doing that well as the Quad and decided to "upgrade". IMHO, this is just an attempt at trying to make the IP/Quad/Linq an "upperscale" hotel, something that might not be easy short of imploding the place and starting anew.

once again the reason they changed the name from the quad to ling had to do with them not being able to get asian to stay and gamble there so they rebranded it after the who Linq , great marketing and the new rooms look great and the hotel lobby and resturants renovations look great

the name chane was know for a long time

The remodel so far was focused on the casino and even then it seems like it was more about making the place "link" up to the Linq and to Harrah's than really establishing a brand. If any of the rooms were touched, it must have been just a refresh. The last formal wave of room remodels were done by the last owners and they didn't do every room. We've been waiting for awhile to see the final room concept. I am amused of the idea of $82/night being upscale. That just pushes them into the mid range. And that's just an ask. If people don't book at that rate, it will come down. IMO, if there isn't a customer service upgrade to go with the rest, that price won't take.

On the TR website it shows The Linq Hotel & Casino (the new name), and also Nov-2014-through June 2015 is listed as "options". If The Linq is $82 per night it puts it above Flamingo, Harrah's, Rio, and Bally's.
I'm hoping CET continues giving me free rooms Sun-Fri in 2015 as a loyal customer. I do expect i'll get comped rooms in 2015 because i still have 2 more bookings in 2014 and plan on spending my bankroll at CET. Currently my calender shows only the Rio in May 2015 comped. I'll still do Rio again if i have to. I enjoyed Rio when i went last May.

But if i get shut out at CET, i'll go back to being a loyal customer at MGM properties which was from about 1994-2005.What goes around comes around.
