Do they still have the craps machine that bounces the dice? Shoot To Thrill I think it was called.
If so is still double odds with $1 minimum for line bets?

Yes, El Co still has the Shoot to Win craps machine. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what odds are available or what the bet minimum is as I've never played the game; I've only walked by it.

Yes, they did have it at the end of April. As with jimboguy, I have never played it since I can play there on the real craps table for $3 min with 10X odds and get paid properly on the $3 bets (as they will use $.50 chips).

IDK...... it would be a HIGHLY unusual circumstance that I would ever play that..Just curious what do the craps player that play the game on a table ( as I do ) think of this...

I tried it a couple of years ago, and got bored. I prefer the experience of handling real chips and dice and hear humans talk instead of a shrilly little girl yelling.

I am a craps novice; and I enjoy the real thing over the plastic bubble.

    I love the Shoot-to-Win machines!
No annoying dealers or boxmen, no breakage on payouts (whatever you wanna bet, pays exact to the penny!)
Not rushed at all...AND YOU CAN SIT DOWN!!!

Love the El Cortez for so many reasons.

    Shoot to win craps
    25c roulette tables
    Silver strike coin machine
    Food brought to the table
    Downtown icon

    See you in August!!!

I just came back. We played on it at Casino Royale. It was a great teaching tool for all the newbies I was teaching the game to.
    Casino Royale's was a $2 minimum, 5X odds. That's the best I have seen.
We had to play it because THE ONE AND
ONLY craps table at Casino Royale was full. Grrrrr. Stupid Casino Royale.

I agree with tim speed. I've been playing craps a long time and I love shoot to win craps. Besides no annoying dealers there is no annoying players.I hope they still have it at the orleans.I'll be there in eight days.i made my reservation so long ago that it's really a hard eight days to go.

I'm an unapologetic traditionalist and I just don't like the Shoot To Win machines.

I've played on them for a diversion and it seem that every time I get something going you'll push the button and after the sound of the howitzer the dice bounce up about an inch and a half and - SEVEN OUT!! It's just not the same as shooting craps on a table with real dice.

And I suppose the intangible and subliminal things at work at the craps table are just absent from the experience on the glorified slot machine.

Theres the memory of the first crap game I ever got involved in on a homemade table on a dock by a lake fourty years ago.
There's Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls.
There's Harold Smith, Jr. at Bill Harrah's club trying to break him at the craps table and take over his casino empire. And William Fisk Harrah and his crew crossing the street to Harold's Club to do the same to him days later.
There are the games in the warehouse after work when we used to get paid in cash at the end of the week.
There's Nick the Greek betting the don't and standing unblinking for 12 hours at a time and losing millions.
There's Benny Binion taking the $777,000 and $1 Million action from William Lee Bergstrom in the 1980's.
There's Stanley Fujitake rolling for 3 hours and 6 minutes at The California in 1989.
There are the thousands of games in baracks, foxholes, and troop carriers in WWII that our fathers and grandfathers took part in as they answered the call for freedom.

No, theres more going on at the craps table than just betting, winning, and losing. There's our place in the tradition of gambling itself. The dice were rolling long before any of us were born and they'll be rolling long after we are laid to rest. As crapshooters were just fortnate to be able to take part while we can.

It would be a shame to waste it by sitting on our butts at some slot machine.

All good thoughts, and why I really do enjoy live games. However, the bubble craps is a GREAT way to learn the game without the embarassment of not knowing and potentially getting the nasty snide looks and comments from fellow players AND the pit. I remember my first experience and the awful treatment I got, and luckily, that didn't deter me from becoming a master of the game. Sometimes I'm in the mood to NOT have to stand and be social and I don't want to have to use my brain too much. That is when my beloved bubble craps fits the bill. Its also great for the middle of the night game when I don't want to bother with the table.

shoot to win is great for the low roller. Other than visiting Joker's Wild way out in Henderson, where else can someone play craps for a relatively low amount of risk. I guess I can understand that its hardly profitable for casinos to provide labor to run tables with minimums under $5. This is one way to do it.

That said, it does take all of the atmosphere and excitement out of a real craps table, but it also takes out the superstition aspect, which may intimidate newbies from playing the real thing.

I like this machine if I am at a place that has higher min bets, or if I am at a place in middle of the night with a near empty table, something I do not like about playing craps by myself, but this machine I have no issues with.

I have played it twice, both times I walked away somewhat annoyed. Hate the female voice telling shooters to push the button.

Cons: the shrill girl voice yelling at the shooter. The freedom to make really stupid bets without embarrassment.
Pros: low minimums. A seat. If you want to have a conversation with the person you're with you can ignore the game. And in a joint like El Cortez you're just as likely to get drink service at the machine as at the table.

Automated table games are created with the hope of eliminating dealers. Some of the video card dealers are good enough for me, but shoot to win will never replace the craps table.

    shoot to win

Love the shoot to win machine at El Cortez - had much better luck on it than the table. Not to mention , the drink service was actually much better.

Other players and dealers are what make craps so much fun for me. If I didn't want human interaction I could just hook up to the internet and stay in my room.

    Just one mans opinion.
