I have had 3 good stays at the Flamingo and I definitely like the the Flamingo pool area. But last time I stayed at there I used the $20 trick for an upgrade and I probably got the very worst room in the entire hotel. As a result I was so soured on the Flamingo that I'll probably never, ever stay there again. I don't think I'd ever allow myself to have only the choice between Hooters vs. Flamingo. There are just too many other good options in selecting Vegas accommodations.

Flamingo. Was at EDC this weekend and a couple told me how their room at Hooters had puddles of water on the floor from a leak above along with mold in the bathroom. Even these poor college ravers kids didn't want to spend their time at Hooters.

Crap, I was going to say that just to get Paperposter going :) my real answer is 100% Flamingo.

Why would you give up on a hotel for 1 bad experience after 3 good ones? I would just make sure the next time that I told them at check-in about this, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to make sure you got a good room.

what you consider an upgrade is differnt for everyone a higher floor , closer to elevator, better view, room being available now instead of waiting, so i dont blame the hotel.

    Flamingo wins!
Pool and location are the main reasons.

    I have stayed at both properties for week-long stints - Hooters in 2009, 2010 and 2011, Flamingo in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

If the pool is the only deciding factor then yes, Flamingo wins easily.

The ONLY negative thing I have to say about Hooters is the location. It can be tough to walk all the way up to Venetian, etc. and then have to walk all the way back. This is where monorail/deuce tickets come in handy. However, I have found the Hooters slots to be some of the loosest in Vegas. And their player's club is actually pretty good too, they rate everyone.

The Flamingo pool is great but be prepared to get down there at 8:30A to get in line for a chance at a chair. If you just wanna take a dip, no worries. Poolside food and drink is much cheaper at Hooters.

In three years we never had issues with Hooters' rooms. Just request tower rooms. The bungalow rooms in the back are motel-ish.

For what I like to do in Vegas, either place is suffice. And if you stay at Hooters, take the 2-min walk to Coco's Bakery and get the breakfast special from Carlos. It is phenomenal!

I stayed at Hooters in 2012 the pool was open 24 hours. I don't know if they still do that.

    They do!

A couple years ago, I finished off a great craps roll by sprinting to the pool and diving in fully clothed.

I bet you're right Paperposter. I saw a gross bed bug video online taken at Hooters so bad I wouldn't even go into the building never mind stay there. But my phobia aside, Flamingo for every other reason.

If you're a pool lover the flamingo would be better but the standard rooms are pretty much the same quality in either. It's important to remember that unsatisfied people tell the world and satisfied ones keep quiet. Don't rush to judgement on hooters because one person had a puddle in their room. That can happen anywhere (and does).

As I recall (we stayed in a suite at Hooters when it was still San Remo) the building shades their pool pretty early in the day. Flamingo has its issues but the pool is a high point especially for price!

Flamingo location vs. Hooters? Flamingo by a mile.
Flamingo pool is a lot of fun, can't comment on the Hooters pool but I don't see how it could be THAT much better than Flamingo to make up for the shitty location of Hooters.
