    My Trip Report

Build a wheel.jpg The first two days were to attend a show with the last two days open. Flew SWA from South Texas scoring an aisle seat in the first seven rows with "B" boarding. Flight there delayed a little over an hour while the flight back right on time.

Stayed four nights at Planet Hollywood in a room on the 7th floor overlooking the pool.It seemed larger than the standard Hollywood Hip with two windows and double sinks. The theme of the room was Wheel of Fortune which meant it had too be a winning trip.

The first night I stayed at PHO and I mainly play video poker. This trip I decided to play Bonus Poker instead of DDB that I normally play. They have a Build A Wheel poker machine that I have become addicted to the last couple of years. The only problem is you need to build the wheel in the first 20 bucks or you normally just break even. I mostly play nickels on it but sometime bump to dimes.I also spent a lot of time playing the 100 Play Poker machines at 10 cents a hand. The highlight of the first night was hitting the top award on Build A Wheel poker for a little over 14000 nickels.

I finished the night having a burger at Ramsey's BURGR which was pretty good. I had the Hell's Kitchen burger with the poppers finishing with the stickey pop-ups.

The next day was spent at the show but that evening I went to Rao's which was awesome. Definitely plan on a follow up visit with the wife. Not much happened on the gambling front except I checked out O'Sheas and dropped a quick 60 bucks at the roulette table but won half back at the bar playing Bonus Poker. I wish they would serve the beer in something other than plastic cups.

Thursday morning I played a litte poker until the limo arrived to take us golfing at the Badlands course. Beautiful course but can't say I played my best game. I have never seen so many rabbits in my life. I swear there were at least 10 rabbits on ever hole. Limo back to PHO and spent a little time at the pool before getting cleaned up and going down to the sportsbook to watch game one of the finals. It was great to see the Spurs take game one and I was surprised that it seemed most were cheering for them. After the game a quick meal at Earls and back to gamble. It seemed like the switch to Bonus really allowed me to play longer. I had three decent hits one being hitting the top award for 13884 nickels on Build a Wheel and the playing one more hand and getting dealt four to the royal and connecting on one for another $200. I also put a 20 in the Monopoly and playing .50 a pull got up to $180 before cashing out at $158.

Friday was my last full day and the first stop was the new Cromwell. I really like the changes and the drink service was awesome. They operate like the Quad with one coming by with an Ipad to take your order with another one bringing your drink a few minutes later. Everyone was very polite and I was surprised when I ordered a vodka redbull that the only question was what brand of vodka. No big wins or big loses on Friday. That evening I had the buffet at Paris which was pretty good.

Last morning after breakfast I played poker again building two wheels for small gains before going to the 100 play and switching to DDB 10 cents a hand. I was dealt 3 threes on my third hand and on redraw got the fourth three on 7 hands with 4 also hitting the kicker for a quick double up of my 100 dollar buyin and a quick cash out going home on a winning hand.

The cab ride the airport was in the cleanest cab I have ever been in. The driver even had the AC cranked up so it was cool on entry.

I came home with a little over $400 more than I took and ended up about 200 credits shy of Platinum. It was a nice trip and there was some positives of going solo but I think overall I prefer when my wife accompanies me.

    Thanks

    Mark

Thanks for sharing! But no pics of the Build a Wheel? :(

That game is definitely rough. And it's really not worth playing unless you plan to "complete the wheel", which can cost a bundle when the big hands aren't dealt to you. I tried the game a couple of times when Horseshoe Tunica used to have 9/6 DDB for 5-play nickels. But I never had the patience or wanted to risk the money to complete the wheel.

Bonus definitely helps you hold onto your money longer though vs. DDB, getting a profit on 2 pair adds up!

And where you playing all 100 hands for 5 dimes each usually? That sounds expensive. Cosmo across the street offers 8/5 Bonus (99.17%) and 9/6 DDB (98.98%) at the 100-play dime level

It was a dime a hand or $10 for all hundred hands. I tied a picture to the original post.

    Thanks

Def nice hit on the build a wheel.

Is the min denomination on those 100 plays 10c? Are the paytables significantly better than 2c? I would max bet 2c if you have the choice. I know harrahs/flamingo have those denominations, not sure about ph. My only royal in Vegas was a dealt one on these things. It does happen. Although I was only betting 6 lines for max pennies for "free" booze , the payout is almost the same as 100 lines for 1 penny each.

The ones at PHO are .01, .02 .05 .10 if I'm not mistaken. I normally play at .01 which is $5 for all 100 hands at 5 credits on each line. Last November I noticed I could bump to .02 which would be $10 a hand which would be 1 tier credit per hand when I was trying to reach Platinum. I have been playing this machines for a couple of years and this was the first time I have hit the top award and to hit it twice was unreal. Can't wait to play it again in August.

Congrats on a winning trip! I agree, while solo trips have the advantage of doing whatever you want whenever, I prefer trips with my favourite travel partner, my hubby.
