    My Trip Report

    Preface:
Let me start by saying that I’d never won a hand pay prior to this trip. By that, I mean that I’d never had to deal with the taxes associated with gambling winnings and my biggest win was a thousand bucks playing 25-cent JoB at a local casino. This is surprising given the embarrassing amount of time and money I’ve contributed to the cause….

    The beginning (Feb 15 & 16):
Hubs and I take our weekend getaways separately so that one of us can stay behind with the munchkin, so I was on my own this trip. As soon as I got to CP, I headed straight to the high-limit room and hit the $5 Red, White, & Blue machine. The plan was to play at a leisurely pace, enjoy a few cocktails, and revel in my temporary responsibilitylessness. A couple hours in, all was going as planned, and BAM! Just like that, my W2G virginity was gone. First handpay ever: $1,800 on my $5 bet.

I was down about $1k or so at that point, so was really only up $800ish. Not as fun as $1,800. But what the hell, I had my long-awaited tax form in hand, so off to the other high-limit “room”/tent I went. I decided to go for it and play the Panda slot (China Shores?) at $1/line for $30/pull. A few spins in and BAM! Hit the bonus. A spin or two into the bonus and BAM! Bonus re-trigger. Then BAM! BAM! More bonus re-triggers. A total of 70-something free spins and an $8k win. Yes. I’ve got this gambling thing down. I am good. I am the Sultan of Slot. The Great Gamblino. I am…seriously considering becoming a professional gambler.

The rest of the night is a bit of a blur. I played for a while on the $50/pull Sex & the City slot and won a few more IOUs. Slot-hopped a bit and won a few more. I was sending my husband pictures of all my wins and somewhere in there he sent me one of the airport. He surprised me by joining me for the rest of the night on a whim. Biggest win of the trip.

Okay, maybe this was the biggest win of the trip…

We spent the next day nursing one of those awful “Vegas” hangovers. Too much stimulation, too little sleep, too many slot machine sounds in your head, too little winnings left… So we lounged in bed for most of the day, ordering room service and The Hunger Games, Catching Fire. (By the way, the room service food and service was excellent.) Hubs headed back home and I can’t really remember what I did the rest of that evening. Sorry.

    The middle (Feb 17):
I spent the day at Qua. Love this spa. Left feeling like a new woman and decided to stop at Cosmo after leaving CP and before heading to MSS. Played one of my old faves, Siberian Storm. Feels like I can’t lose on this one! And I didn’t. Won a couple hundred and moved on. Had fun on the Back to the Future slot. Won a little more. Played one of those gigantic slots with a bench for a seat. Won some more. Then I decided to try out the electronic roulette. Why? Because I am that smart after a few chocolate martinis. Obviously lost all my winnings. Moved on to “Howling Wolf”, or what I like to call “much ado about nothing.” Obviously nothing good to report here. Lots of noise and no wins. Moving on to MSS!

    The end (Feb 17 & 18):
Time for some Video Poker! My apologies in advance…no good VP pics coming. That’s because I had no great VP wins. A fistful of scratch-offs for 4OAKs, but not much else. Love this place, though, and the Boar’s Head Bar. It was my first stay. I got to Sapphire and now have summer offers for free nights, meals, and a bit of free play, which I fully intend to take them up on!

Overall, a fun Vegas trip and definitely my most memorable so far. But I’ll be back in the city next week. So here’s to trying to top that last one!

Epilogue (or, a slightly bitchy aside):
I’ve come to expect HORRIBLE customer service from AAA (American Asshole’s Airlines…no relation to Air FU Canada), and they delivered nothing less. At least they are consistent. In turn, I will strive to become more consistent in my resolve to never EVER fly them again.

    Thanks for reading!

    Nice!
    BUT...at $30-$50 a whack...W2G's will come often!

Yes, exactly, even at $10 a whack. $1200 (the W2G limit) is just 120:1 on a $10 game, and in ANY game, slots or VP, a 120:1 payout is going to happen about once an hour or so.

I assume her prior play during her pre hand pay days wasn't at the $10 and up level.

Indeed! With too many of them painfully close to the threshold...

Prior to this trip, my ability to avoid W2Gs playing $5, $10 and some $15 and $25 was uncanny. It was a running joke between me and my husband.

Congrats on the nice (ok, awesome!) hits! But most importantly, again MOST IMPORTANTLY, congrats on your "non responsible" time. I'm a mom too... and work more than full time... I GET IT, I really do. Vegas is where I'm no longer an employee, a mom, a wife.... it's just MINE.

And your bad-boy date night, what a great surprise and fun! I would have looked at that picture and raced to my room to shave my legs.. LOL.

Irregardless of the $$ profit or loss statement... you won. You really, really won.

    Thanks for sharing!

Really enjoyed your TR, looks like you had a great time.

I love this feeling. Everything you touch, wins. Blackjack is the easiest game in the world, etc, etc. But we've all had the reverse feelings as well. This one is much more fun!

Congrats on your wins! I , too totally understand how Vegas is YOUR time away from everything, that's why it's my favourite place to go. When I am there and I hear, "Mom, mom..." I know it's not me being called! Glad you had such a great trip, thanks for sharing!

Thanks all. While I did return more winnings than I'll admit, somehow I had the wherewithal to squirrel away my $10k hit. So that offered some comfort the next day...

Anyway, here's to enjoying our non-responsible "ME" time. Viva Las Vegas!
