Before bed last night I was discussing some of the things I was hoping for -- good view from the room, lots of big wins at the tables, that the temperature will be warm, but not too warm -- all stuff that out of my control.

But you know what? Even if none of that pans out, I'm gonna be in Vegas and not pushing a mouse at the office and I plan to enjoy every second of it!

    Have a great trip!

    Thank you soooooo much!

Yes, we are excited, and the plane ride, is just goosebumps, knowing we are on our way. But the reality is, once we land, the worst part of Vegas starts.

    1) Having to worry about dis-honest taxi cab drivers.
    2) Having to haggle with check in clerks.

    1) I know how to address this, but, it is still a pain in the ass, and we hate having to start our Vegas Vacation like this (WELCOME TO VEGAS FIRST IMPRESSION)!

Each, and every freaking time we visit VEGAS, PERIOD!!!! It is never going to change, no matter what people post. Just one of the pains of going to Vegas.

And one of the reasons we like cruises over Vegas. Just plain Dumb and STUPID.

    2) Only until this part is over, does our Vegas Vacation begin (sad). Last trip in 2011, we paid for a Flamingo STRIP VIEW GO ROOM. At the check in, we were haggled by the check in clerk, that tried to convince us, booking direct from their OWN web site, and paying for a South Strip view, does not guarantee a strip view, and that they were going to place us in a non view room.

I said Bull Shit (sorry Monitors), and get me the Manager. I paid for a Strip View, and unless they want to comp the room for FREE, that ain't going to happen. Then we experienced the sour looks and frowns from her, and mumbles under her breath, saying, well we usually don't do this (Oh Freaking BULLSHIT). We got a 26th floor South Tower Strip view, just like we requested and PAID for, six months in advance. WTF... Pain in the ass.

Then off to the room and check for Bed Bugs. Once cleared, ONLY THEN DOES THE VEGAS VACATION BEGIN.

What a freaking PAIN IN THE ASS.....

Only in Vegas do we experience crap like this.

But once this hurtle is over...... Holly Crap... it's WONDERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

    T-6 and counting! :woohoo:

I'm at T-2 and these will be the longest 2 days of my LIFE....

For me the anxiety is the flight, I always worry about sleeping thru the alarm...or hitting traffic on the way to the airport. This time we are parking our own car at DFW in the express parking area, which means we have to take the shuttle from the lot to the terminal. That makes me anxious too, worried about getting there early enough - even though our flight leaves at 750am. I have countless dreams prior to a vacation that I miss my flight. It's awful. And I don't like flying either so add that on too. *sigh*

We're at MGM first night so it's "take swenson to tropicana" for the cabbie and I swear if he makes any weird turns I've got the authority number in my phone. Not sure how they could screw that up, but I know they try.

I packed yesterday - got all the cameras locked and loaded and ready for action (I'm a big youtube slot vid gal) now I only have to suffer through the next 47 or so hours.

I will send you good vibes that your cab ride is easy and your check in experience goes flawless...remember don't sweat the small stuff - you're in Vegas!

    Let the degeneracy begin.....!!!!!!!!!!!

    Got it 100%

Yep, that's me. My GF doesn't sweat any of this.

She loves flying, I do too, but because of my Engineering background... well. er, ....

And because she trust me, she knows I will handle the Taxi and Check in clerks if they mis behave.

I'm a totally a polite person in all of these manners. Honey works better than vinegar in most experiences. But give me BS, well, Honey turns into VINEGAR.

For this week, I will live your Dream (and ours).

Sad part is, Vegas time is so precious, for if you do not STOP from time to time, just to experience the moment,
    you'll miss something wonderful. :nworthy:

I plan to savior as many moments as I can take in, and have GF do the same, while We get lost in the WONDERFUL VEGAS precious time we have.

Don't be scared of the cabs. Just tell them you don't want to take the tunnel and you'll be fine. They are making an effort to stop long hauling.

And worst case you get long hauled and pay an extra $10. Not the end of the world and certainly not worth worrying and impacting your vacation!

I've got this one covered since after our first learning Vegas Visit in 2000.

I'm surprised so many people on the VMB do not know how to handle this.

And back in the day, no Google maps or Mapblast.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Like I have posted toooooooooooo many times on this board....

Walk up, and TELL Them, this is the way it is going to Go.

"Are you OK with taking me to XX via Swenwson, to Flamingo... etc, or should I get the next cab behind you"?

Never fails. I just hate this... WELCOME TO VEGAS starter.

Not a nice way to start a vacation. And Vegas (TA) knows it, but too many palms are greased to EVER change it, PERIOD!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Then the Hotel check in Bull Crap. Never fails... However, this trip, I'm trying something different. I called the Front desk, and asked to talk to the covering Manger.

He has our RESERVATION flagged in the system (Since we are a pay), for a room up high and un-obstructed view of the Bellagio Fountains.

Further, he has confirmed, he will be working the day of our check in, and if there is any problem, to just ask for him.

So after 4 Vegas Visits, I HAVE LEARNED, as a PAY FOR ROOM, think this is a HOME RUN, without too much pain.

And No, we do not do Player Club cards for Room COMPS, please do not ask why. For us, it's just cheaper.

Sco5123 understands why, but not saying she agrees with it.

So do not hijack this thread about players club cards and room comps. Start a new thread, if you dare to start a fire.

I simply suggest, let it go.. Just let it go...

OK, Back to Vegas.... At 12:01 tonight .... T-5, but I'm not counting. :woohoo::nworthy::woohoo:

You know, I was just thinking about this. In Chicago, I'd eat a cab driver alive for long hauling. In Vegas, I don't even care, even when I know they're doing it. Vegas is a stress free zone. You'd have to slap my mama to make me upset over things there, and I might even let that slide with an apology and a long island.

Enjoy the butterflies, and hopefully everyone's trip is everything they want it to be and more!
