    2. Signature
    3. Airport-grocery-liquor store-check in
    4. Pick up friends the next day at airport (add him as a driver)
    5. He doesn't drink:nworthy:
    6. They are staying at Wynncore
    7. Trips planned to downtown and UNLV
    8. No waits for cabs
    9. He will keep car and pick me up to wherever we want to do dinner or whatever.
    10. He drives me to airport
    11. He returns car the next day when he leaves

That is all the important information. Is this a good idea? Are we nuts? It's like $200 for the week. Looking to save time and $$.

It also depends on if/how much you drink. I rarely rent a car (I'm doing so for one day when in town next month). We don't always get ripped but it's always nice to have the option without having to have a designated driver.

ETA, I missed that your friend doesn't drink. You're good to go :)

Sounds like a no-brainer to me, rent the car. For several years I used taxis for everything, which was handy, but restrictive. I finally sprung for a car for a day trip and realized that LV wasn't that big of a deal to maneuver. I rent one each trip now and can't picture not having the freedom it gives us. With Signature being stuck back off the strip it will be nice having your friend pick you up.

    BTW, I don't drink either.

Rent the car. I rent every trip, but have lots of business related meetings. You've articulated a slew of great reasons to rent.

I have no idea where I'm renting from. In fact, what I would like is to find a rental place where I could easily add my friend as a driver once they arrive. I would like to avoid going back to the rental area by the airport, since I've read horror stories of long waits. I get in around 8:45 a.m., so I don't mind a long line when I arrive, but the next day I think they get in around 4:00 p.m. So ideally I would pick them up and drive to bla bla bla and get him signed up as the second driver.

There is an AVIS Car Rental right at the MGM Grand (several other MGM properties such as Aria, Bellagio have them on site as well):

If you rent at the airport you can still add your friend at the Avis location inside the MGM Grand because it is the same company - all they should have to do is access your reservation in their system to make the adjustment.

Here are some AVIS discount codes - maybe one of them will help bring the cost down:

    Small tip:
At Enterprise it cost $10 a day to add a 2nd driver. Not sure if that is the same policy for all car rentals. If you tell clerk he is my "domestic partner" there is no charge.:peace:

Hertz has a counter at Planet Hollywood right next to the platinum check-in. I used it to add a driver last November.
