Who among us actually, more or less, pays for their hotel room most trips?

Some of the most expensive Vegas hotel rooms are the "free" ones.

During our tenure it's been a mixed bag of internet, casino rates and full comps, but we're so far off the radar these days ...

Most of the time my room is comp. I paid last time and wasn't happy about it. Something must have been going on, but I never did figure out what.

My flights are usually on points. We used to earn a lot on Southwest and they have non-stops from / to Orlando. My daughter earns a lot of Delta points and has status with them. So sometimes she books us outbound (non-stop after work Thursday) and I'll book our return.

I could be a darn cheap trip if we didn't go near the slots or buy all those show tickets!

Everyone pays, just a matter of how and how much ...

I've paid a few grand per night for my last two or three of trips. As nice as the Wynn Tower Rooms are, well...you get the idea.

Hopefully, the free rooms I get for my summer trip won't cost what a decent used car would.

I pay for everything. We live too far to go to Vegas often and I'm there to have fun, not chase comps. We gamble wherever we feel a machine/table talking to us.

Just because my RFB is comped, doesn't mean I'm not paying for it. If I could get all that AND win every time... I'd be a casino owner.

Uh … well, sco5123, I always pay for my trip flight, rooms, meals, et. al, unless you would like to help me out. :peace:

Oh! You mean comped rooms! Duh. Sometimes they are comped, but those offers are rare these days, at least where I would like to stay. Those of us who mostly play poker don't get much in the way of comps.

Yeah never pay for a room in the sense that I am charged by the property but I usually pay for it at the tables or sportsbook although sometimes I get lucky!

Transportation cost roundtrip is about $60 for gas.

My rooms are comped rooms, but that hardly means free.

I never play for comps so I pay for my room every time I go to Vegas. I have players cards at all my regular casinos but I only use those for mailers and the occasional comped meal.

You make it sound like anyone who gets a room comped is "playing for comps".

I do but again I don't gamble a lot. This past trip in Nov I used MyVegas comps for 4 nights...2 @ NYNY and 2 @ Aria and I never bought chip packages just played. I have had some recent discount offers on my TR card but never full comps

Not at all. I just prefer to gamble when, where and how much I want without having to worry about being rated for a free room, be it that trip or a future one.

For those that get comped RFB, without having to alter their gaming to do so then more power to them and a tip of the hat.

I have only been going to Vegas for the past 7 years but I have only paid for a room once in over 20 trips. (That was to try the Golden Nugget for 2 nights @ $23/night).

I got comps from moment one because my husband (now ex) blew big money there. I rode in on a comp of his (limo and MGM suite over fight/Derby weekend) and have gotten my own comps ever since.

If I had to pay for airfare or hotel in Vegas, I would probably cut my Vegas trips in half and do my tropical vacations more than once a year.

We all "pay" one way or another.

either its to a machine/dealer/hotel staff

over all, I section my trips yearly. I figure after I pay taxes, its a "new fiscal year"

unfortunately 2014 has been expensive so far.

if you are comfortable playing black chips, rooms and food will be free
green chip will depend on how much luxury you want vs "free"
red chip is a hit or miss

You always pay, it can cost a lot of money to get those comps.

With that being said i have never been to vegas and i am only paying 1 night. I got 5 nights free (my husband and i) through myvegas and a promotion from a local car dealership got us 2 more free nights so out of the 8 nights we pay for 1.

I got our airfare with airmiles so only have to pay taxes.

Since April of 2008, encompassing 40 trips and 156 nights, I'd guess I've probably paid for about 30 nights. Usually when I wanted a better suite than my play qualified me for. Usually it was some sort of major discount or cheap time of year.

Now I've gotten over the whole suite thing and pool comps with two buddies for usually Aria/Cosmo/Bellagio/Caesars and use points from work flights so it generally is costing me nothing to get there and stay.

Almost always! Not a High Roller. I guess you are paying for it one way or another haha...

I don't mind one bit though. Room rates are so good in Vegas. For my upcoming Red Rock trip. I'm paying $37 a night, including a Saturday. Can't beat that. My room is costing less than any show I'll end up seeing, and probably half of my meals.

Actually half the fun is looking for a deal. I LOVE that. I probably look at rates everyday haha.

I mean I love to be comped, but realistically, It's like wow I gambled thousands of dollars for a $39 room at Mandalay Bay... it's cool. I can pay for that. Also I can decide where I want to stay with no pressure. I know gambling is for fun... I wish I had more money to gamble, but I don't know what I'd do if I had a TON of money to gamble.
