Will getting backend comps affect marketing offers?

Will visiting the Player's Club or Host On Duty just prior to check out to get stuff comped off hurt future upfront offers? Last month before I checked out of The Cosmo I went to the host on duty posted at the high limit room. Based on my play he was able to knock off right around $120 in food. Which I considered fair given my level of play on that trip. So a week or so later when Cosmo's marketing emails come out I get an offer for 2 Wicked Spoon Buffets when I book two nights. Very underwhelming But the GF gets an offer for 2 free midweek nights. Her and I gambled at very similar levels with her playing a slight bit more VP than me but I played more at the tables. We both left up a few hundred and I could pay for the two nights with my winnings but that's not the point.

 

mailers seem random for cosmo, some people are lucky and get free weekday rooms, a lot of FP and FB but some don't.

cosmo identity play, has some point system that acts like express comps. not sure if the host you ran into used yours or just did "back end" comps.

but either way
back end comps/ hosts have nothing to do with corporate mailed offers.

The Identity Points that I earned during the trip gambling I redeemed for freeplay as I earned them. And then a few days after I checked out I got a big bump which matches my out of pocket costs for room and food not covered.

 

Asking for and/or receiving backend comps will have nothing to do with future offers or comps.
Offers will be based on your theo or actual loss.

 

I would tend to agree with this. Based on what LITTLE knowledge I have, the marketing computers use adt/theo when picking who will get offers. The are offers, not comps; meaning they are offering a "proven" gambler a carrot to come gamble with them.

As to getting or not getting an offer a few weeks after you played... I am guessing they may not have even taken your recent trip into account. Lead time on marketing offers seems to long.

 

For most players, comp value that accrues during a given trip does not get "banked". So if you accrue comp during a stay, you need to have it applied on that trip, or it goes *poof*.

Future offers are based on your past play, under the assumption that you will play at the same level and that that level will theoretically be profitable to the casino even after they subtract the cost of the offer.

So if they took $120 off your bill, and your room wasn't comped, then that's the total comp value your play earned during that stay. That's only $60 a night. So I wouldn't expect them to be offering you free nights based on that. On the other hand, if it was your first time playing there, you may well end up getting a better offer not too far in the future, at least you're on their radar now.

Why your GF got a better offer, I dunno, something about what she played may explain it. They have to draw a line somewhere and it may be that her play was over a threshold enough to get a room offer.

In any case, the difference in the offers you and she received should not be because you received back-end comps.

 

With every other casino I've played in I would agree with that statement, but I played at Cosmo for the first time and had an offer in hand in less than 2 weeks.

 

Same thing happened to me.
Then I got a couple offers a month for several months including one for a free cruise after one 4 night stay.
The offers have decreased since I have not been back for a year.

 

Getting backend comps from a host does NOT impact future offers, since at that point they are giving you what your play has earned. Take whatever they will give you at the end of a trip.

What CAN impact future comps is underplaying an upfront offer and winding up in a situation where they hotel considers you "overcomped" and they are unwilling to extend much in the way of upfront comps for the future.

 

Yes, Cosmo tends to send you a fresh offer a couple weeks after every stay should your play warrant it.
