Hi Guys! So I came upon this forum while researching for our August trip to Las Vegas. I have been to Vegas 2 other times, once in January 2005 and July of last year. This August my bf is taking me for my 40th birthday. We arrive Sunday morning (my bday) and leave Thursday evening. Last year we stayed at the Golden Nugget in the new Rush Tower and we liked the feel of downtown (casinos are close together, great people watching, cooler under the canopy-- more of a corner bar with a jukebox feel versus the dj pumpin' techno feel I get when on the strip.) Anyway, I went a bit off track there... so we have decided to stay at the Golden Nugget again for those reasons plus our room is being comped for our entire stay, which is a huge plus.

So, having explained all of that, my bf wants me to give him "ideas" of what I would like to do for the big 40. Thing is, I really don't know what I want to do. I fel like even if I had been to Vegas 20 times instead of 2, I still wouldn't have a clue as to what all Vegas has to offer.

A little about me: Minnesota born and raised, love the outdoors, love to gamble, prefer a hambuger over a steak, prefer beer to hard liquor, prefer slots to table games -- unless its 3 card poker-- im a sucker for that game, fan of all country and 80's music. Im definitely not high maitenance but don't want to slum it at McDonalds for dinner either. Just a laid back country girl who loves to laugh and have fun. (Lol.. this is starting to sound like a dating profile.. sorry, just trying to give you guys a feel for what I like and dislike).

Anyway.. anyone have any good birthday ideas that I can pass along to my bf? I think he wants to surprise me but he, like me, really has no idea where to start.

Thanks for any input you guys can give!

We had a blast! Great place for a 40th, can't imagine it anywhere else.

Greetings from God's country. You'll find many of your neighbors in this forum. We're plentiful.

Birthday ideas: are you the type to splurge on a spa service? If not, there are a variety of them to be found in the Nugget spa and elsewhere in Vegas.

In for some "only in Vegas" fun you won't find in God's country, visit the Green Door. https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92687 (Sorry, I've never been there myself.)

Spa idea is great, why didn't I think of that??? I think I was putting too much effort into where are some good bars/restaurants/attractions that I forgot about something so simple as just to relax. We plan on renting a cabana in the adult only pool (The Hideout), so maybe make a day of lounging by the pool and also incorporate a spa day as well.

As for the Green Door.... uh... interesting to say the least. While it was a great review, and can add a whole new dimension and flare to a night in Vegas, I think my exhibition days are over.
