I'm a long time MLife guy, thinking about testing out a CET property for an upcoming trip. When booking a potential room on the Total Rewards site using my players card account, it asks for a credit card number and I see this:

It says a deposit "may" be charged at the time of booking.

I want to know if it will be or not.

Yes, you can still cancel and get the money back.

first night plus tax, I think to be specific.

I just booked through the phone with Flamingo and got a better rate than the website. I'm not a High Roller and didn't expect much in the way of room rates.

When I called, she first offered me a more expensive quote than the website for the room. When I told her that, she went back and checked and I ended up getting the room for $150 cheaper after taxes/resort fees than the site. I was pretty shocked, and glad at that. We originally planned on booking a basic FAB Deluxe, but she only charged us $25 for 6 nights total to upgrade to the Go room. Needless to say I grabbed it and got confirmation email with the first night deposit.

    When?

The Flamingo rates have skyrocketed probably due to the Linq opening.

It says "may" because comped rooms at CET carries zero balance to your credit card. I booked Bally's for May @ 7 nights, the first 5 are comped, the last 2 are heavily discounted.........however, my balance is still zero.

Not on comped rooms but you must give them a cc to guarantee the reservation but they do not charge it.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm hesitant to book anything because I know I'll be gambling more at CET properties this year so I suspect my rates will go down.

    - you can always cancel a booking

    - any "deposit" is refundable, so no big deal. Whenever they some hotel says they will need a CC for a deposit.. I really do not care.

    Except for non-refundable deposits.

Also, for the OP, sometimes the CET deposit is for the full amount, not just the first night. You have to read the disclaimers carefully.

To me that just seems like you're giving CET an interest free loan.

But rates change rapidly on the CET calendar. I would book now if you're happy with the rates and keep an eye on them, if they go down you can call them and have them update the rates on your reservation.

CET needs every penny they can get.... lol

But the trip I described in the initial post is for November. Seeing as I'm shaky with CET properties to begin with, I have no desire to pay a deposit yet.
