Joined the board last summer before my annual trip, but never bothered to register an introduction.

I have been going to Las Vegas since 2000, only missing 2008.

    Stats:
Visited 13 of the last 14 years
    16 trips since 2000
Spent at least one night at 17 different hotels
Only stayed in the same hotel 4 times
    Had a stay over in 3 non-gaming hotels (e.g. Motel 6)

I collect casino chips, so I have been to every casino in the valley that has table games (yes, that includes the old Speedway).

I consider myself the king of buffets as I have been to 16 different ones.(haven't ever been asked to leave, but did have a chef question whether or not I had a tape worm)

I consider myself an expert traveler, and am always willing to impart my vast knowledge to try and make sure that people have a good time, and go back.

Looking forward to the tips from the community as I prepare for another trip. I will try to contribute when I can.

Welcome to the board. Sounds like you should be able to fill in knowledge gaps that some of us have.

Welcome from another DFW person. Give me info on flights leaving this area for Vegas. Always looking for other options that maybe I don't know about.

My personal opinion is to use Southwest, and have done so for all trips since 2009. Yes, you currently have to stop somewhere first (can't wait until that stops in October), but this can work out well: I flew to Vegas on a Friday night in 2012, and all but 10 people got off in San Antonio. As soon as the flight crew counted everyone, we were allowed to change seats and use the lavatory. They give you about 20 minutes to unload the plane and move around before loading new passengers.

I always try to get a flight where I don't have to change planes. I would also advise trying to make your stop somewhere west. That flight into San Antonio was almost straight south, so I added unnecessary flying time of about an hour. I know in the past that I have stopped in Lubbock, El Paso, and Albuquerque.

The $12.50 "board first" option is worth it to me. I usually travel solo out of here and with no carry-ons and long legs, I like getting that first seat on the bulkhead. I have succeeded just about every flight. (also, it provides self check-in, which is quite helpful as you tend to "get lost" mentally in Vegas and might forget to do it yourself)

    Hope that little bit helps.

    Hi from a fellow DFW-er!

You will love the board. We have a pretty unteresting buffet thread going on in the restaurant section, you might like to check it out :)

Also I can't wait until SW starts flying non stop from here - hopefully they will beat AA's prices. Since US Air took over I see AA going downhill and don't care to give them my business anymore after this trip.

    Enjoy!

    Greetings! Fort Worth area here.

    Welcome to VMB.

As for flights, I've used USAir, AA, Frontier, UA & SW. (Of course, back in the day, I also used National, AirTran, Delta & Continental...I miss National the most... ~sigh~)

These days, I always use 'reward points/miles' for my Vegas trips, so quite often, the airline I fly is dictated by that.
If one wants a decent shot at 'cheap' first class upgrades, then USAir has always been pretty good about that - and I suspect that's because you have to go thru PHX every time.

AA, of course, has the most flights and (currently) the only non-stops. (I'm not counting 'Spirit').

SW probably has the best 'coach' service, but often has higher-than-normal fares, even factoring in the no bag fees. But, when we get to fly SW non-stop, it'll be great - and think that really will drive down airfares to Vegas from DFW...and, hopefully, SW's fares as well.

Interesting. Only been to Vegas in June once, and since 80% of the group was coming in from an area well north of the Mason-Dixon line, getting another trip at that time will be difficult, no matter how many collectors there are amongst us. Made it to Spinettis' this last trip. Really enjoyed the selection.
