Jockey Club????

Its that time of the year where I am voluntold to plan our yearly vacation to Vegas for all of my brothers. This was the result from our last trip:

So we are trying to top our previous trip. But the weekend that we picked looks like Vegas is having the Exodus Festival which means that prices for everything has been hiked up so high that we are having to look else where for hotel accommodations.

I always saw the Jockey Club each time I went to the Bellagio Fountains and wondered how is this rinky dink hotel still standing with all these big hotels surrounding it. Now im interested in renting rooms there.

So what do you guys think of it? Is it a good hotel for a group of guys that don't spend much time in the rooms anyways?

It is timeshare and it's the weekend of May 16.

It is a timeshare but it's open to the public. They are quoting us $120 a night for a one bedroom suite with two queen beds and a sofa queen. The dates are May16 - 19

 

Yup, just like Polo Towers. Open to book just like a hotel.

The great thing about Jockey Club is that time from your room to the strip is no time.

Rather stay at a hotel casino

Great location. good thing is your away from the casinos when going to your room.........bad thing is you are away from the casinos when going to your room LOL!!. I stayed there many times years back when i had my T/S and I enjoyed the stays. Now understand the casinos have more amenities.. but JC has washer dryers on the floors, refrigerators which can come in handy. I might SLIGHTLY lean toward the casinos, but if ya wanna save a few bucks JC might be the call.

 

You didn't mention how many people you need to fit in the room. So, the prices quoted for casino rooms are only going to sleep 4 (maybe 5 with a rollaway)

I own two weeks at the Jockey Club. It takes about 4 minutes (depending on elevator) to go from room to Cosmo casino floor.

If you have any specific questions about JC, I can try to answer them for you. I've spent approx 50 nights there over the past 5 years.

 

At the moment we have 6 people going and we wanted to do 3 to a room. So these rooms work out good. I also hear that all JC guest get access to the Cosmo pool and aminities. Is that true?

 

My Grandfather owned a timeshare for years there, the wife and I used it several times when he was unable to go anymore.

The rooms are/were dated last time I stayed (2010) but still were nice. Having a kitchen was great and the separate living room, bed room was awesome too. Pool was decent and never crowded.

All and all JC was our favorite place we've stayed on the strip

 

Yes and you park on the 3rd level of the parking garage.

I don't think you have fitness access tho'.

Plus, you wanna try and get a room facing the Bellagio. Otherwise you will face a Cosmo wall and it sucks.

 

I can't say for certain that paying guests get the use of the Cosmo Pool. Timeshare owners are able to use the Bamboo Pool, which is located on the South-Southwest side of the building. (I think it was floor #14, but not sure). You will not get access to the Boulevard Pool. (I tried last trip, even as a JC owner, I wasn't allowed access)

Parking on the 3rd level of Cosmo parking garage is best (look for signs on the wall, that say Jockey Club access) if you are driving. They do have valet parking on the North side of Jockey Club. You can also pull up on the North side to unload and check in. They will usually give you 10-15 minutes, unless they are super busy, then they may require you to Valet the car.

The JC has a small fitness center. Basically, JC is two small towers (11 floors each). In between these two towers is the pool. From your room you take the elevator to the second floor which is the pool level. From there, you walk outside past the JC pool and through a doorway where you find the Cosmo elevator. This elevator will take you down one level to the casino floor right across from the Book and Stage Bar.

The JC pool area has a couple different amenities. The pool is nothing special, but it is heated and is usually comfortable all year round. This area is also one of the designated smoking areas for JC. There are tables and ashtrays set up by one end of the pool. There are also BBQ grills if you want to prep your own food. I think they still have ping pong tables, but you would need to go to the front desk to check out paddles and balls.

Also by the Pool is an enclosed area, (along the same wall as the Cosmo elevator) This is the fitness center. IIRC, it houses a couple of treadmills, a Nautilus, and the hot tub. There is also an ice machine stationed just outside this little building.

As far as your view, you won't have a lot of say in which view you will get. JC gives the Bellagio rooms to owners first. Owners staying for a full week get first priority, owners staying less than a week get second priority, and paying guests are last. It's just luck of the draw. My entire time staying at JC, I've had a Bellagio facing room every time except once.

 

My crew and I are staying there for March Madness in 28 days. We had the same problem- hotel rooms are through the roof this year. More than doubled since last year. We were pretty excited to get this place- about 120 a night and more room than a standard hotel.

 

Confirmed, if you stay atJC you get to use the rooftop pool at the Cosmo. I called 2 weeks ago and got the low down. You get one of two views. A brick wall of the Cosmo or the fountains of the bellagio. I've heard its kind of a pain to get to but who honestly spends more than a few hours if sleep in their room. My wife and I are staying there April 5-8 lowest I've seem is 90/nt up to 110/nt

 

We are staying for MM as well. By far the best rate in town. All i have heard are good things! And two queens, a pull out, 1.5 baths for 4 nights during MM for 500 out the door cant be beat.

I hope you're right. But, unless they changed something, JC guests get access to the Bamboo Pool. This is the statement verbatim from the last JC owners newsletter:

The Bamboo Pool located on the 14th floor roof top of the Cosmo (official share pool between Cosmo and Jockey Club) opens for the season each year for your enjoyment. The season is usually 4/15 thru 10/15, 8am to 8pm. (date and times are subject to change without notice) On occasion, the Bamboo pool opens early and/or extends the closing date as weather permits

The JC pool area is open 24/7 all year with the exception of scheduled maintenance weeks. The JC pool is heated to 84-86, there are 5 BBQ's, ping pong and plenty of fun places to sit and read
