I am a pack rat with everything in life, including my email. I was trying to clean up a little and came across an email from my old MSS host dated 2003. In there she stated that $5,000 coin-in daily average, qualifies you for a Silver Card.

The Silver Card at DT Boyd qualifies for comped meals at all the restaurants, except Redwood, Second St & Pasta Pirate. It would also exclude the non-Boyd restaurants, like those on the 2nd floor skybridge between MSS & Cal.

Almost 12 years later I have no idea if this still applies but I just thought I would pass it along since we constantly have threads about comps and amount of play. We have the Gold Card which includes all DT Boyd restaurants, but I have no idea what level of play qualifies us for that. We run about ~$10,000 through VP daily.

btw, the oldest email i found was dated 1998. Different computers but I do a weekly back up.

Thanks for the info Joe. I think that is correct back then, between 5-10K. They used to give us the Silver card at Fremont and at MSS when we later transferred.

Our Silver card status ended in year 2012 when illness at Vegas brought my play down. My host would not respond, but we were satisfied with the Aloha Coupon book during three visits in 2013. During those three visits, our daily coin in was just under 10000 daily since we accumulated almost 130,000 for 13 days. This was the highest average since we started with downtown Boyd.

Then our surprise. The offers for January, February and March 2013 still had the free nights, but a reduction of free play and the food offer disappeared. That is the reason I started that thread on comp offers from MSS to see if Boyd was reevaluating their comp system.

We typically aim for 10k coin in and are still at Silver card status. I have received conflicting answers regarding the hours that they evaluate play. I stop playing at 11:58 pm the day before departure just to be safe. I'm usually tired after that many hours of VP anyway and don't want to risk a short coin day if they happen to choose midnight as the cutoff. I will say that I have seen no reduction in offers. My offers always vaguely refer to a coupon book and the host changes it to a silver card.

Another oddity at MSS is that the 10/7 DB machines supposedly accrue tier score points on a $ for $ basis even though those machines are $3 per point. I'm a fan of transparency and would love a definitive answer.

I play $20K a day on the 10/7 DB and that is good for Silver Card. I was told that on other VP that would give me a Gold Card. I have a feeling the totals might be a little lower than this...

Same question I asked Kiwi, are you Emerald.
Also, start of day at downtown Boyd is 3 AM. That is from an email the slot manager sent me when I inquired recently.

No I am Shaphire but honestly card level is meaningless with offers. This level of action also gets me the top mailer which $100 in Free play, Free nights and Food coupon book (worthless on a silver or gold card).

Not sure about that. It sounds like we run about the same daily totals through the machines. Why do we get Gold, limo & suite and you don't? Emerald vs. Sapphire?? I'm just guessing, I have no inside info.

I am also Sapphire. I was Emerald a couple of years ago but we only made it to Vegas once last year and that status is impossible to maintain with just a short trip. My tier score is barely high enough to maintain Sapphire at this point. I get $75/month free play.

I'm heading out in January and will only give MSS one day of play. I'll make it at my usual level. I'm not staying there because I didn't want to lock in multiple days of heavy play at one property. Hopefully the single day won't count against me. I have the tripped booked like this:

4Q 3 nights with $80 free play and slot tourny. Host also gave $100 Hugo's comp despite never getting more than $4k action in a day on 10/7 DB progressive. Super nice gesture and much appreciated.

The D Currently booked for 2 nights but might cancel. $50 free play, $25 match play and $25 food. Played for a couple hours last trip. Pretty generous offer and the side items are still good without booking the room.

Cosmopolitan LVA negotiated a deal for free rooms for subscribers on certain nights. I booked two nights in a terrace suite at no charge. Too enticing to pass up even though I am a downtown guy.

Joe, what kind of coin-in per day do you do to get Gold, limo, suite?

Average over a trip is about 11k per day. Some days more, others less, but the average is fairly consistent at about 45,000 for our standard 4 night trip. We usually have a morning flight going home and I never use or swipe my card that day.

I was also wondering if casino loyalty plays a part in the equation? We've been regulars at MSS for over 14 years, but that's just another guess on my part.

14 years is a long time. We've been going there about three times per year since 2004. Initially just free rooms but ramped up to $10k per day several years ago and have been silver card since then.

I still miss the full pay deuces at full points along with the scratch cards. Those were great days.

Because I only play one day of the trip and only play 10/7 DB. Brenda has told me numerous times that $10K a day is required for Silver Card on the 10/7 machines. I play $20K in one day over a two day stay. If I stayed just one night I could be gold.

So I asked a host at the Cal about the gold and silver cards when we were ready to check out.

Yeah, we qualify for silver but not for gold.

EXCEPT THE CAL HAS NO SILVER CARD. WTF???:cry:

Fremont and MSS have silver, Fremont, MSS and the Cal all have gold.

They did end up picking up all the food we charged to our room (and internet) so the part of the plan where we saved our points for cashback worked.

Actually not certain on that, but they picked up about $450 worth which should have been 4 nights at casino rate plus less than $200 food - so I was thinking maybe that included internet?

But maybe taxes made up the last $50 or so.

I just realized I put the internet on my credit card, so it wasn't picked up.

Boyd has lowered our offers, btw. WTF??
