My dad and I will be staying at the Orleans, but will have a car. Is it worth a trip to check out Ellis Island? We usually play VP.

I like the karaoke bar there and the $5.99 steak and eggs is great after a long night drinking (I usually get a Denver omelette as well to wash it down). If you're driving and not drinking then the vibe isn't really that buzzing so I dunno what you'd think. I'd say definitely check it out once though.

They have some cheap FP VP there (five/ten cent). Their microbrews are pretty awesome too and you can't beat the price on them. I love their BBQ place that opens at 4pm daily, although some people say the BBQ is not that great. I suppose it just depends on what type of BBQ you like. Sign up with the players club for various coupons.

It's very accessible with a car and worth the trip, IMO.

I've going there for many years for the terrific meal deals, microbrews, and friendly dive atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip; in fact, Ms. Gecko and I will be going there this afternoon from Sam's Town, primarily for the BBQ. Yum!

Its our tradition we have dinner there the first night. We love it. Everyone I take there has loved it. Funny story, I am just an average joe, but I have a very wealthy friend that travels to LV with me. The first time we took him there he wouldnt even try the $7.99 steak special, said no way. He saw our steaks and ordered one the next night and has been hooked ever since.

Its an absolute dive, my other friend sat down in the old sports book and and chair broke and he crashed into the floor. Would have been a big deal on the strip, there they just kinda came over and said "Lots of these chairs are cracked. Sorry." Ha that was it!!

    The beer is great!! $2

Sure is! Their own draft beer tastes great while hitting the VP. I have gone over in the morning for breakfast and they usually would COMP the GF organg juice as well. They are a pretty generous bunch over there for sure!

We were in LV last Feb. when they had the shooting/car crash and the strip was shut down for like 14 hours. It was literally a sight I will never forget, you couldnt get a cab, could barely even walk out of Ballys. We walked over to Ellis Island, the streets were just a sea of stopped cars. We spend the entire evening, left about 1030 or 1100, just had a blast. It was a place we never would have given that kind of a chance to spend a Thursday night, but it was a blast. Met some real characters!

The ribs there are great and a super value. I'd go there just for that. I played craps there after dinner and my buddy and I were the only ones playing so that wasn't much fun. But the beers went down well while throwing.

A lot of people seem to like the food. We've gone there several times. We like to play VP at the bar. We've found it hard to get a seat most times and we never win anything. So not worth a trip IMO - except maybe for the food, which I can't speak to.

I would suggest playing at the bar to get the comped drinks. The cocktail service on the casino floor is almost non-existent but at the bar the bartenders will hook you up.

Be sure to try their beer. It may not be an elite micro-brew but it tastes great and it'll get ya drunk!

The steaks are good but it can be a wait at peak times, so try to go early or late. The pizza is good and I got a chicken parm calzone at the pizza shop...loved it. Slots are fairly loose but not much to choose from. It's a tradition, I always go.

Everyone should go....at least once. Karaoke bar is a hoot. I have to admit, I used to go for the steak special and BBQ until the citation they received a year or so ago complete with photos on the net. Can't bring myself to eat there now and I'm a bit "iffy" on the glasses but trust the alcohol us killing the germs.

imwired .. ya just have to go at times where there isn't a crowd.. AVOID PRIME grazing times. And brenna61 pleas post link. If ya watch any of the restaurant and bar shows on TV/cable ya wouldn't eat ANYTHING unless ya grew it or raised it on your own........FWIW EONS ago I worked in a ( semi struggling)hospital kitchen.. If ya knew what went on there...........all I will say is use your imagination...LOL!!

We haven't ate there since the citation either, but it was more out of laziness/cramming too much crap on the strip from us. I would still give them another shot for the food. It was good for the price when we had it. And I am definitely not worried about the beer and I love the quick quads there!

Oh yeah, plenty of parking in the garage behind Ellis.

And if the cafe has a wait just go up to the hostess and get on the list and they will give you a number. Then you can go gamble or hang out at the bar and they will call out your number over the intercom when they have a table for you.

yep, waited for 45 minutes on a sat. night once. That equated to a $40 win for the Quick Quad unit...dammit.

We took my wife's sister and brother in law there in November and for the second time in a row the steak special was not so good. The meat was tough and chewy and the string beans were cold. The potato was good though.

They loved playing around in the casino and we went for breakfast one morning and it was ok. We have been there a dozen or more times and honestly the food has gotten worse in the last while. Just my 2c worth.

If you can appreciate it for what it is, then yes, it's worth the trip.
