I'll be staying on the Strip for NYE weekend with some friends who have not been Downtown.
In October I hit the DBar and a couple others and had a good time.
I'm hoping to get some ideas from some Downtown regulars on a few places to go with two other couples.
Not nightclubs just fun bars is what we are looking for.

    Beauty Bar
    Mob Bar

The bar with the hard to find door around the corner from Beauty Bar, forget the name.

I enjoyed Commonwealth on my last trip. Nice rooftop area too.

The Rush Lounge at the GN has some decent live music acts and is kind of a cool place to chill and have a drink or two.

DCR is the one DMR was thinking about. We went to DCR in July on a Thursday night as a friend of mine had a dj gig there. Small lounge and was focued on a Chicago house/jazz vibe. Great drinks.

Insert Coins on E Fremont St if you like old time video games. They have games there going back to 70s, think Pac Man etc.

They do charge a cover Fri and Sat nights. My friend used to tend bar there and was able to put you on the pass list, but she moved on.

If you and your friends like beer, I'd recommend a taster sampler at the 777 Brewpub inside Main Street Station. Also, the upstairs bar at Four Queens, more micro brews from Chicago Brewing Co. (it's located in Vegas). They have a couch area in the bar that would work well for 3 couples.

If you do Hogs and Heifers, be prepared for VERY loud music. We sat on the patio (essentially the sidewalk) of Mob Bar and the music was blasting out of H&H next door and that was at noon. There were no outdoor speakers, it was coming from inside.

    I know I'm getting old.

I must be old as well. Had the exact same experience. Also keeps me from trying the rooms at Downtown Grand.

The Griffin is hands down the best bar in Fremont East. Probably not for the olds though...

As an old, I'll just say that the Griffin reminded me of a cave with fires where wizards meet. Give me an out-of-focus tube TV behind the out-of-shape bartender behind the single beer tap any day. Old guys rule!

51+ here and I challenge you to find someone who has posted more about the Griffin than me? In fact, the giant of a doorman now recognizes me when we visit!

The Mob Bar in the DTG is a real nice venue, put it somewhere in the middle of the crawl between MSS and Fremont east so you can stop at Pizza Rock for a slice on the way by.

I wonder if the outdoor biergarten at the plaza will be open by the time you are there?
