You know you are a total degen when you are yelling at De Niro and Freeman to turn around as they exit the cab "stuck in traffic" at Mirage on their way to Aria and start walking NORTH---AWAY FROM CAESARS IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!

Who is responsible for this scene?!?!? Heads are gonna roll!!! :evillaugh

Yea, we were the only 2 in the theatre that yelled at the screen to "Turn around. You're going the wrong way"! LOL People around us laughed. It was the day after Thanksgiving and there maybe 25 people in the theatre with us. Fun crowd.

I had a similar thought during Hangover 3 when I wondered how someone could paraglide from CP, toward Paris, and then land downtown

So true BeeeJay. I see that kinda thing all the time in movies that take place in Vegas. Usually it's the same old thing, a group of people in a car where they are in front of the Stardust or Riv and then midway through the next sentence there's good OL' Vegas Vic in the background.:peace::beer:

I don't mind too much about unsequenced background when characters are riding in a cab, for instance. But Hangover 3 was RIDICULOUS. And Last Vegas should have been more honorable. I mean, come on, would it kill the producers/directors/writers to do it correctly?

(And don't forget in 21 the view from the Hard Rock was the Bellagio Fountains.)

That shit drives me nuts. I don't know why a director would even allow this in his movie. The NBC TV series Las Vegas was the worst of them all, nothing ever was sequenced.

There is a scene in one of the episodes in the TV show "Las Vegas" where Danny is driving down the strip in his convertible that would make your head explode.

I know, that scene in 21 showing the bellagio fountains from PH. Also in that movie, when they have a balcony, they are in the Platinum hotel behind Bally's.

I also can't watch the last scene in ConAir when they say we're landing on the strip, and they come in low by Circus circus, crash thru the hard rock sign a block north of Circus Circus(how is that even possible - check out pic1), land on the strip by barbary coast and Flamingo, and starts the crash sequence at Oasis (dunes) and comes to a stop heading north at the Sands with Mirage in the background. Then Poe gets out and grabs his kids teddy bear from the sewer in front of Fremont hotel where all the money is falling at FSE.

If this sort of thing happened in Brisbane or Berlin it wouldn't matter to most. But c'mon! 35 million people go to Vegas every year. EVERYONE knows these things are wrong.
It distracts from the movie. Yes, it's just a movie, but the directors are asking for a LOT of suspension of believe by doing these things. And WHY do they do it? What would have been so hard for them to be walking the right way? Would it cost even 40 dolllars more to film it that way? I can't see how it could.
I sort of feel disrespected by the filmakers when they do those things.

To be fair, I always felt like Las Vegas (TV show) was basically an hour long commercial for Las Vegas (the city). That's why they always dropped the names of actual casinos/hotels/clubs/bars/etc. The mayor was on several episodes IIRC as well.

I think that's why there are so many scenes that aren't accurate, because they're just trying to "show" as much as possible. Every scene that has a big window in it has a completely different view. One scene in Sam's room would have a great view of V/P, then someone's office would be overlooking Bellagio Fountains. And of course this was all from the piece of property South of Tropicana across from Mandalay Bay.

It wasn't accurate obviously, but like I said the cameos and the name dropping throughout the show leads me to believe that they were just trying to give as much exposure to every casino as possible. I have less of a problem with that than the stuff that is simply just wrong for no apparent reason.

Interesting take. I still love the show, though. Lots of Vegas porn and Josh Duhamel is dreamy. :drooling:

It was pretty cool watching them film it. I came out of Planet Hollywood trying to walk to Flamingo, but they had the side walk blocked and the whole strip blocked. I knew they were filming something. Walked back up to Planet Hollywood entrance, and then saw the helicopters. Saw the dude jump out over CP, and he did glide around the Eiffel Tower. He landed in the strip in front of Bally's I believe.

EVERY movie/TV show screws with geography like this and we never notice it because we're not familiar with the locations.

I personally think they had them walk that direction so they could get some good shots of The Mirage and the volcano in the background. It's no secret that MGM paid some serious dough for product placement in the movie.
