    Hey all,
First post here but have been reading for awhile now. I remember seeing something about best VP at Aria at 0.25 level being a 100 play machine but can't remember much else.
What would you recommend for 0.25 VP there? Also at Cosmo? I like JoB and BP best, but willing to experiment.
    Thanks for the help.

    Aria:

The best game at the quarter level to my knowledge (thanks to everyone's favorite poster BeeeJay) is 8/6 Bonus Deluxe with Super Times Pay (98.49% w/o STP and 98.77% w/STP). It's a multiline game, but you can set the machine to play only one line while still betting 5 or 6 (for STP) credits per hand. He says it's in row 803 on the gaming floor.

But some of the biggest changes from 8/5 Bonus to Bonus Deluxe in order of importance, imo:

Inside straight with no high cards is better than garbage.
Inside straight with two offsuit high cards is better than high cards only.
KQ is better than just an Ace.
QJT9 is better than low pair.
When a 3 to a Royal draw has BOTH an Ace and a Ten, then 4 to a flush is better instead.
When the number of high cards equals or exceeds the number of gaps in a 3 to a straight flush, it's better than AKQJ or 2 to a Royal.

Playing straight up JoB/Bonus won't cost you much either if you forget these.

The full strategy is at the website below.

    http://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/strategy/a-1-b-40-c-1-d-0-d-1-d-1-d-3-d-4-d-6-d-8-d-80-d-50-d-800/

Many other strategies can be created from the site too with knowledge of the paytable.

    http://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/strategy/calculator/

Although beware that this game will require a bit more of a stomach and a bigger bankroll since 2 pair is now a push instead of a win, but quads pay 225% more (80 vs. 25 for 1) than JoB. STP will also jack up the variance even more to a slightly worse than DDB level.

    Cosmo:

The 100-play machines on the gaming floor (not high limit room).

Play 8/5 Bonus (99.17%) for dimes for 2 to 3 lines ($1 min bet is required). I'd personally play 20-lines of 98.91% Deuces for pennies, but you didn't say you liked deuces. :)

    OR

7/5 Bonus with Double STP (98.01% w/o DSTP; 98.51% w/DSTP) for quarters on their Double STP machines. Again, you can bet either 5 or 7 (for DSTP) quarters on one line even though its multiline. 7/5 Bonus with DSTP has roughly the same variance as 8/6 Bonus Deluxe w/STP.

Wow, thanks for the excellent response. I will be sure to seek those games out. I can only handle the variance at that level which is why I asked.

Any idea on where 803 is?

Unfortunately I don't. However, I do know this, Bonus Poker Deluxe didn't originally exist for Super Times Pay. As a result, Bonus Poker Deluxe is only available on newer Super Times Pay machines (or All Star Poker II multigame machines). These machines almost certainly have a video display screen instead an illuminated plastic sign to identify themselves. Also typically, "row numbers" are affixed on units at the end of a bank to help guide casino employees, and patrons sometimes. :wink2:

If beeejay reads this thread, maybe he can give more insight about the approximate location. If he was sober enough to remember it... :drunk:

I think those machines at Aria may be next to all the pai gow tables across from the Cashier(hopefully BeeeJay sees this thread and chimes in). Cosmo has a .25 progressive that was over $2100 for the royal a couple weeks ago. Standard 7/5 strip pay table(I'm pretty sure) so that sucks, but hitting that royal on quarters would be fun.

Yeah I would double check those too. I thought they offered 8/5 DDB on those? A "double royal" ($2000) would knock that game up to 99.05%. 99.15% for 6/5 Bonus (if available). Basically, a double royal adds about 2.25% to most games' base return. And if you do play those, remember that ditching high pair (and 2 pair in the case of DDB) for 3 to a Royal is standard with a Royal > $2000.

I'll discount double check the pay tables this Sunday and report back. I was a little drunk last time I was there(okay, a lot drunk ). Better believe I will be chasing that royal like a dog on a mailman though if it's still over $2k.

fwiw, I could def. be wrong too. I just remember reading 8/5 DDB existed at Book and Stage. Is that where the progressives are? Or are they elsewhere?

~Common (and not so common) paytables for progressives in decreasing order of return (before progressive): "Bonus" is like JoB with equal, but increased quads. I include games up to 98%, but I expect most progressives to have a base of 97% or less for major properties on the strip at quarters.

    7/5 Bonus (98.01%)
    9/5 DDB (97.87%)
    9/6/5 Double Bonus (97.8%)
    6/5 Super Aces Bonus (97.78%)
6/5 Super Double Double Bonus (97.69%)
    7/5 Triple Bonus Plus (97.67%)
    20/12/10/4/4/3/2 Deuces Wild (97.58%)
    8/5 Bonus Deluxe (97.4%)
    35/6/5 "Bonus" (97.36%)
    8/5 JoB (97.3%)
    9/5 Triple Double Bonus (97.02%)
    Traditional 6/5 Bonus (96.87%)
    8/5 DDB (96.79%)
    25/16/13/4/3/2/2 Deuces (96.77%)
    6/5 Triple Bonus Plus (96.62%)
    9/6/4 Double Bonus (96.38%)
    7/5 Bonus Deluxe (96.25%)
    30/6/5 "Bonus" (96.18%)
    7/5 JoB (96.15%)
    8/5 Triple Double Bonus (95.96%)
    20/10/8/4/4/3/2 Deuces (95.91%)
    7/5 DDB (95.71%)
    6/5 Bonus Deluxe (95.36%)
    6/5 JoB (95.00%)
    25/15/10/4/3/2/2 Deuces (94.82%)
    6/5 DDB (94.66%)
    8/5/4 Double Bonus (94.18%)

I have not seen a game lower than 8/5/4 DB in a casino, so I'll stop there...thank god.

    Thanks again, Tringlomane.

Donk, is the Cosmo progressives on bartops or floor?

The progressive I am thinking of is on the floor. It's behind some blackjack tables and roulette wheels. It's got the huge video screen on top with the progressive amount on it. I'll check out Book and Stage too, but I don't remember seeing a $2k+ royal on any of those machines last time I was there.

Can anyone attest to the bartop situation at Aria? Anything playable at quarter level?

9/6 job on quarters? that's even better than the game I mentioned from BeeeJay's TR...lol

VPFree2 isn't perfect...it depends on people like me *cough*. I went to my furthest casino on the Missouri side for the first time in 5 months. Found a lot of updates back then, which are all still there. Went back because I wasn't sure when my comps expired... Of course...the highest paying game in the metro area is there this time (99.84% Super Aces for dollars), and I likely missed it last time...dammit. I'll update it soon, but it takes volunteers that have a good knowledge of paytables. Full Pay Super Aces is 60 (SF)/8/5. This version I found is 50 (SF)/8/5. First time I have ever seen that paytable in my life. And I didn't double check those units 5 months ago...dammit. And on Sunday, I found 80(SF)/35(4 5-K)/9/6 Super Aces for the first time at Horseshoe Hammond (99.91%) for 5-play at the $2, 5, or 10 level. "Full Pay" is 60/50/8/5, which is 99.94% existed at 10-play. Altering the paytable over 0.03%, stupid if you ask me.

As for the last two casinos...it did take me almost 2 hours though...so vpfree2 is a labor of love to do it right. :vomit:

yeah i am sure it is time consuming who really wants to document vp when supposed to be at the casino having fun. it is through someones being nice and updating it though that it helps us out.

Yeah, 9/6 JoB for dollars (or even 9/6 DDB) would be a "new" find for Aria. For the casino I went to tonight, you had to be playing dollars for any 99% machine...bleh. And I still did have a little fun, not playing those machines, though. The best I played was 97.78% Super Aces Bonus for nickels (best nickel machine i'm aware of). I still won $12 for the day, so I can't complain as a micro roller. Ironically, the best machine they had was the very last set of units I checked while there.

Also these newer finds in the past month are enough reason for me to lift my personal ban on Aria that's about 1.5 years old.

I hit the 50cent 6/5 Bonus Poker Royal for $3,400 back in July at Stage and Book at Cosmo!!

Back in Nov I was playing 7/5 50cent Boner Deluxe at the same bar with Donk. Royal was only up to $2,700.

    Hope this updated info helps.

Nice job bighead. I have been to Book and Stage but never played the bartops there. I'll have to give a shot this time!
