Considering the hotel for a trip to Vegas for business. Get the impression this is a place for the party crowd and not ideal for one on work duty. Am I wrong?

Not sure what you are looking for.

    Where will you be working?
    How long?
    Who is paying?
    Will you be playing?

(p.s. - don't be afraid to be more specific in your SUBJECT line next time)

    Thanks.

I'll be attending CES at the LVCC.

Will be there 4 nights / 5 days.

Work is paying to a certain amount. Don't mind covering the rest.

    Not much of a gamer.

Been to Vegas several times. Did Luxor, New York New York, Mandalay, Venetian, MGM Signature and Mandarin Oriental.

Initially thought of Vdara or Aria but room design at Cosmo seems pretty cool. I like new, trendy places. I stay at W a lot when I travel.

Am ok if the place is upbeat. Just don't want total parties in rooms next door to get a good night's sleep in between my time at the trade show and related events.

I've stayed at Cosmo 4 or 5 times and have never had problems with noisy neighbors. I also love it.

Noisy neighbors are chance happenings anyway.

On my last trip in Aria Skysuites the neighbors were ultra loud one night.

We didn't mind a ton cuz we like ruckus. However, the missus did have a cut off time tho' when they'd have to STFU. Luckily, they quieted down.

I have stayed there before and will be staying there this week but this time for work (partially...I have a much lamer hotel booked in reality but staying here on a comp). I can see myself getting work done. the couch area with desk facing the window, the balcony, the wet bar...all things that make being in the room for work easier for me.

The crowd can be a bit tool-y at night but is generally ignorable. I think it's worth a try...

I agree Mirage would be more convenient for CES...hop across to Harrah's monorail, but Cosmo is not terrible. I have stayed at Cosmo for part of my CES stays for the past couple years...just hop accross the street, walk through Paris to Bally's monorail. I think more in terms of where will I be hanging after the convention. You will be in the cold twice during the day for the convention...going there and coming back. What you do at night could dictate you walk outside more often and in colder weather. I like cosmo, since I can hop around between Bellagio, Aria, and PH.

Thanks. Looked at Mirage and TI but want to try a newer property. Like your point about walking across to Bally's monorail from Cosmo.

I wouldn't be "frightened" of staying at the Cosmo in the least. The points made about the conveniences of some other properties to the conference are legit, but if you're sober, you'll navigate things just fine. I travel regularly to Las Vegas (once/twice a month) and it took me awhile to learn to separate the business from the pleasure. It's easy to get sucked into the "hoopla" and try to operate on a couple hours sleep. It makes for loooooong days let me assure you... but you don't seem to be as concerned about your willpower, as much as you are possible noisy neighbors and property. If you were there in the summer or thereabouts, it could be more of a concern, but in January for CES? You'll be fine. Enjoy a really cool property.

Do Cosmo. I just got back from my first stay there and I loved it. I prefer it to Aria, but Aria is nice, too.

Add to that, even tho' Aria is "next door" it is much farther.

One note tho' is that if staying at Aria, you can get to the Bally monorail by walking across through Vdara

    through to Bellagio

Out of the north side of Bellagio over wakway to Ballys.

That's actually an ok walk and mostly inside vs. from Cosmo is all street.

Just a wild ass guess, but from Cosmo to Bally's Mono station is getting near a mile, especially if you are in West Tower at Cosmo.

Do you get distracted easily? Personally, I get distracted easily so it's hard for me to work in Vegas, especially when there's a casino downstairs. This isn't good considering I have an online business and have to be "wired in" most of the time.

If you don't get distracted easily then I recommend the Cosmo since they have nice rooms and good WiFi speeds. If you get distracted easily, then I recommend any of the non-casino properties, such as the Mandarin Oriental, Vdara, and MGM Signature (tech. has a casino but it's a long walk).

The other thing is that if you're the sort of person who works better out in public (I'm woefully unproductive in my room), I was noticing today there are tons of random sitting areas with nearby outlets on the second and third floors. Especially once you get out in the hallways by the convention areas, it's quiet and fairly isolated, and I feel like I could be productive out there; by way of reference, at Aria I tend to just set up shop at the Lift Bar.

    Where did you decide?

I'd 2nd the Vdara suggestion. The statement that crowd at Cosmo can be tool-y is very true. We like the restaurants in Cosmo and while we are walking through the place to eat, we unfortunately run into them. We've seen numerous arrests, half naked (and not in a good way) obnoxious people. I don't know what it is about Cosmo that draws that crowd.

Really wanted to like place and looked forward to staying there but not enough to deal with that obnoxious crowd.
