    My Trip Report

We're in Vegas but I'm not up to blogging this trip as a full live trip report - this trip for me is for some recuperation from some fairly intense life events lately.

I have put out a few small things on the blog

but I really did want to put out some stuff on the Downtown Grand, which had its soft opening yesterday.

I really like the property. It's beautifully done, classy and modern. The casino is a lot smaller than I thought it would be - cozy even. It's like maybe a third the size of the Four Queens.

They've done so many things right - walk in walk out washrooms with no skeezy door handles to try to avoid like at the Fremont is right up there... oh yeah and there is some good VP at the bar too. :)

The place has the usual selection of pit games and the limits were typical for downtown - $5 blackjack and craps - didn't check roulette but I'm guessing its dollar, $5 inside minimum.

There is a large emphasis on slots over video poker - I think I only spotted two banks of VP with progressives on both banks - plus the bartops.

Going back over today and will do a full exploration!

    Streep dice - aka CeeLo

    Hi Flusher,
can you tell me a little about the 'street dice" game they are advertising they have there. I see it may also be known as CeeLo (like the judge on "The Voice"). never seen or heard of this game in a casino in Vegas.

We're going back tonight for a comped dinner, so I'll take a more careful look at things.

I was interested in that dice game too but we walked straight in the doors last night.

There are still a few rough edges on the place here and there so maybe it isn't up and running yet.

Those of us who still have months to go before our next Vegas adventure thank you for even the tiniest trip report. Three royals and counting for you and Mrs. F. Keep them coming. The royals and the updates. -- Lorna

Here is some description on it. But it's wiki, so it could be a little inaccurate.

I had a look around and found what looks to be a little outdoor pit, on 3rd Street. Presumably the dice game would be there.

But there was no other sign of it that I could find.

Thanks for the report, I can wait to visit in 3 weeks...will they match players card level from another casino?

RF, it's always a pleasure to read your TRs even if it can't be as long as your usual ones. Happy that you got to take this break from Flusherville and join the QQ. You may have to start addressing her as Your Royal Highness.

Thanks for pics of the Grand. Hate reading that they are emphasizing slots rather than VP.

Great fake TR so far!!! :nworthy: Enjoying reading it. BTW, what is a "30's vibe" that you refer to in this latest installment. Do you mean the 1930's? If so that would be a bummer since I thought the 30's was dominated in the US and Canada by the Great Depression.:confused2:

I think it was pretty good if you were a gangster... maybe that is what they were going for? :)

Sorry to say that the Downtown Grand has already cut the VP paytables.

    WTF???!

The DDB quarter progressive that was 8/5 is now 7/5. I've talked to my host about the displeasure this causes amongst the degenerate players like me.

Meanwhile, here are a ton of pictures, including lots of Quad Queen VP Porn:

    Flusher, you make me laugh!

Well done, as usual! Your trip reports are so much fun to read. Thanks for doing that fake trip report. And great score on capturing Freddy.

I hope life is less intense for you now. Hopefully Vegas was just what you needed.
