Are there any casinos that don't require a drink ticket to receive comped drinks? I know Bellagio use to not require drink tickets in the past. However, that has changed.

Pretty sure most of the books nowadays require a tic to get a drink. This is to differentiate the guy that's gambled at the book verses the slug just sitting there to watch the game.

The funny thing about that is, I don't know how many times a CW has asked me if I want a drink as I just stand there on the casino floor (any casino) watching my buddy gamble. Makes no sense???

How does the drink ticket system work? Going to Vegas for first time and will try to catch some champions league action if I can in a sports book. Will I get a drink ticket even if I only stick between $10/20 on the game?

They're all slightly different. Was in Vegas last month and stayed at the Stratosphere . Placed $150 in bets and was given four drink tickets. Who you are dealing with is as much of a factor as where you are. We visited Bellagio sports book and they were still comping drinks in the sports book during college football even though it was being reported that they had stopped. If your with your buddies Twin Peaks had smokin hot waitresses and some fair to decent beer specials, we had a blast in there, lots and lots of screens.

Most places will give you a drink ticket for a $5 horse wager.

Bet some horses earlier in the day and you will have plenty of drink tickets come game time. :drunk:

I really don't see the difference. The CW is going to get a tip irregardless for little or no extra effort. The fact you have to bet a hundo to score one ticket is asinine. If I bet $20 at BJ I could get a drink, but the same $20 will not get me a drink at the Sports Book. ???

I did once go up to the window at Mirage on an NFL Sunday and told the guy he forgot to give me my drink ticket. This was about an hour after I had bet. He looked at me and said I only bet $20. I was like, how did you remember that? He just slid me a ticket and said next time, it's a hundred.

I stayed at Paris in August and my mom was watching me shoot craps. CW asked her "what would you like." And course my mom being a mom said "but Im not gambling" 5 free red wines later.....my mom drifted in to a far off land.

I think there are a multitude of factors that play into this. People who play BJ don't bet $20 on a single hand and then sit there and wait for a free drink. If you are getting drinks comped while playing BJ or slots, you are likely playing numerous hands/spins, which gives the casino multiple opportunities to win money.

When you wager $20 on a sports bet, the casino does not have the same expected "win" as they would on multiple hands of blackjack, or multiple slots pulls.

Also, casinos don't want their sportsbook seats filled with people who aren't betting and are simply there to get the free drinks by occasionally betting a $5 parlay. They want the seats for horse players and people who are actively betting, as they don't want real bettors to be discouraged from gambling and take their business elsewhere because no seats are availabe due to the squatters/non-gamblers taking them up.

Free drinks are for people who are actively gambling. I can see why a $20 sports bet does not deserve a drink ticket, as the theoretical "win" for the casino is very small. I agree that it sucks, but I see the business sense behind it.

Do you have to ask for a ticket? I'm a rare sport bettor, but I have never been offered a ticket. I assume the ticket is redeemable at the nearest casino bar.

I have to ask more often than not.

Each casino seems to have its own policy as far as how to redeem the tickets. Some require you wait for the SB CW to order your drink. Some only allow it at the SB bar. Some may allow you to redeem at any casino bar, I'm not sure.

A $5-10 tip when placing my bet has always got me a few extra tickets.

A bucket of 6 beers is $30 in or around most sports books, so don't bet just to get that drink ticket. Think about how fast $30 goes in Vegas, so not a bad deal. I have lost $100 at a slot wanting and waiting for a beer!

Also, as some of the other posters said, tip $5-$10 and the ticket writer will typically give you a nice stack of tickets. I was at Mirage a few weeks ago, I tipped the girl $10 before I placed my bets, and she gave me about 12 drink tickets. I kept going to her and tipping $5-$10 and it kept our group supplied most the day. This works on Females and Young dudes, the old crotchety male ticket writers don't fall for this. The older female ticket writers are the best targets, especially if you pay them a nice compliment:wink2:

I was at Paris sports book in January. I was sitting at the bar and the bartender told me they pretty much give tickets for any bet e except on football Saturdays and Sundays. I was slow playing quarter vp while I watched wvu blow a lead and then the spread against Kansas. It was a slow night at the bar and I was tipping so I was not in Need of any tickets, but I thought that was good info nonetheless.

I was in the LVH last Sunday evening and saw people drinking for free in the sports book without handing over drink tickets... beers bought from the beer stand were $3.

Last Dec I was watching NFL at the LVH and as long as you had an active bet you could get comp drinks. No ticket required.

I get free drinks betting .09 cents on the slots so spending $100 for the same thing is not really my thing.

Of course i would not expect to sit around watching tv all day having a casino pump me full of free booze either. Even at .09 I can still burn through $60 in a fairly short period of time.

I'm pretty sure the earlier poster as saying the same thing you are, where he was betting a relatively low amount but the time it took for him to get his drink allowed him to lose $100, not that he was betting $100/spin.

    Drink tickets continued

Have stayed at the GN numerous times and got to know one of the bosses. The deal with the tickets is that people were roosting in their sports book, picking up tickets like they were betting and not really betting. The worst thing was they were stiffing the CW's by not tipping. That's just bad form. Sorry for my vent but I despise people who don't tip servers.Saw a woman at a buffet in AC, with her two daughters who were over 500 pounds between them.
The stack of plates they left on the table was a disgrace. When they left, other patrons applauded. DId they tip? NO. Several other tables threw a buck or two in to take care of the server. They must have left over 20 dishes on the table.

I am sure there is more to the story here, right? Otherwise it sounds like the entire restaurant just hated fat people.

My buddy who doesn't gamble wanted to watch a game and drink. I just had him put $50 on both sides of the game to get his drink tix. Told him that the vig was the fee for a seat, and it was a good way to lose him for a few hours. Of course, the game ended up pushing, so he was happier than a pig in $!&@.
