    My Trip Report

A little VP excusion at Borgata on Wed. Decided to play a little multi-line DDB at $1/3-play ($15 a spin) and got some good early hits.

About 15 minutes in I was dealt quad 4s without kicker. Held the 4s and pressed deal... C'mon kickers, c'mon kickers!! Nada, 0 for 3. :bang: Oh well, still a nice $1200 hand pay!

A half hour later I was dealt a pair of Aces and drew quad As w/kicker on the top line for another $2000! Now we're cookin'

Now up a few grand, the machine turned ice cold... Lost a bunch then decided to lock in a $1000 win, grab a bite in the player's lounge, and call it a day.

After eating, I realized that I was actually up only $500. Rationalized that it was not worth leaving for a $500 win, and that I would throw another grand into the machine a see what happens. Worst case scenario I leave down $500!

Went back to multi-line DDB and quickly lost the $1000.:grrr: Started to chase and decided to try my old standby, STP 10-Play DDB at quarters. Nada, zilch, zero. Decided to play some .25 Wheel of Fortune to change it up and maybe get lucky. Got 3 wheel spins fairly quickly and cashed out with a $200 profit.

Feeling my luck may have returned, I decided to make one last stand by heading to the high limit room to see if I could get a quick hit on $10 9/6 DDB ($50/spin). I put $999 in TITOs into the machine, and boy did that go fast with not so much as even a full house.

I was down to $99, which was really one more spin because I sure as hell wasn't going to dump more $ in this dog of a machine! Feeling terrible that I had been up 2-3 grand and was now down about $2400, I dejectedly pressed the deal button and ... voila, dealt quad 9s for $2500!!! A great wave of relief washed over me as I am suddenly in the black for $100 on the day! I cash out and leave the high limit room.

    To be continued...

After the miraculous $2500 hit, I decided to head back to the multi-line machine and play some more DDB. Some old lady was sitting at the machine I had hit on earlier, so I played on the next machine. Decided to bump it up to $2/3-play ($30/spin).

Anyway, that machine kind of sucked. Was running pretty cold when I decided to switch to 50 cent/10-play ($25/spin) Briefly debated whether I was better off playing single-line $5 machine for that money, but rationalized that the 10-play would a have much less volatility. After a few minutes I was dealt 4 to a Royal! Grrr why did I switch to 50 cents?!?! Pretty decent chance of hitting it given I was playing 10 hands, right? Wrong, I watched helplessly as each of the 10 hands missed. :bang:

The old lady finally left, so I went back to "my" machine and started having better luck. Went back to $2/3-play and, like a pot of tea, the machine went from warm, to hot, to piping hot.

First, holding a pair of 4s, I drew quad 4s with kicker on the top line for a nice $1600 hand pay! Yeah, I'm back baby!!

A little later I switch back to 50 cent/10-play and am dealt a pair of Aces, ho hum. I press deal and BAM, drew quad Aces with kicker on not one, but two hands for a cool $2000 hand pay!

Less than 30 minutes later, I'm dealt 4 to a Royal again. If I don't get one this time, I'll be pissed. Hold my breath and press deal ... nothing, nothing, nothing ... WHAM there it is, Royal for another $2000!!! My second Royal ever (although I have yet to get what I consider to be a "legitimate" Royal, i.e., single line). Whatever, I'll take it!

I calculate that I'm now up $4,400 and I should probably leave. But the machine is so hot, I decide to put the "extra" $400 back and try my luck at $1/10-play ($50/spin). Immediately start hitting full houses and non-premium quads galore and have turned the $400 into a little over $2000 in about 10 minutes. I play that down to $1500 and cash out, up $5,500 for the day. Quite a fun, roller-coaster day to say the least.

    Until next time... AC Mike

Forgot to mention, I was dealt 4 to a Royal for a third time after switching to $1/10-play toward the end. I pressed deal salivating at the thought of another $4000 (at least!), but was crestfallen when all 10 hands once again missed. Ah, what could have been! Nevertheless a great day at the casino!!

    Noyce!
I also hate missing on a 4-Royal when I'm on 10-play...but I've had it happen quite often...
The worst was on a 10-play 25c STP, with an 8x multiplier..I was SWEATING..that would have been a quick $8k!

    Good day at Harrah's/Golden Nugget

Had quite a good day Sunday in AC, never in for more than $800 and came home with $7,000+.

First stopped at Golden Nugget and played some $1/5-line STP, hit a nice quad A's/wk for $2,000+. Put most of it back except for $200. Golden Nugget does not have great VP offerings, so decided to check out the $1/10-line STP in Harrah's high limit room that I've heard about.

Hopped over to Harrah's and threw a grand in the $1/10-line STP machine to see if I could get lucky and strike quickly. (At $60 a hand it needed to be quick!). The machine was giving out quads like crazy, enabling me to play quite a long time and get some nice hits, including my first ever $1 Royal!

    Pictures attached.

Looks like GN has a better paytable for STP than Harrah's though. For 5-play, at 500 rounds/hr that paytable bump should save you $162/hr on average. But when you hit 3 2000+ credit wins in a day, the paytable doesn't mean as much. Nice hits!

Yeah, I know, but GN only had 5-line $1 STP, I was looking to try out the 10-line $1 STP, which was only at Harrah's. Too bad it was a shitty 8/5, but it all worked out in the end, lol. Other than STP, GN didn't even have any multiline DDB games AT ALL, even in high limit room.

Harrah's Joliet has 10-play STP for $1, $2, or $5. So up to $300/hand. And if you got a miraculous dealt Royal with 10X (~1 in 243M) at the $5 level it would almost as much as Lion's Share ($2M). :vomit:

Mike... Beautiful hits and I commend you even more for walking away when you should. That's way harder than winning. That multi line stuff is addicting!!

    Quick addendum:

GN had a promorion where they would give you $100 free play if you hit a taxable jackpot, so that was a nice bonus. They had another promotion called "Quads of the Day" where if you get four of a kind of a specific card, you get 100-coin bonus in free play. It was Kings the day I was there but I couldn't hit them despite being dealt numerous 3OAK Kings :grrr:

I usually don't frequent CET properties so this was my first time playing VP at Harrah's AC and the high limit room was quite nice, big, and plenty of people playing. Also, to my surprise, they had a waiter going from machine to machine with hors d'ouvres! That was a nice touch and something I've never seen before.

They also serve food in Caesars High Limit Room.

When I was in Reno at Atlantis they actually came around with a donut cart in the morning on the regular slot floor.
