My wife's mother will join us in Vegas for her first trip. We are trying to line up a couple shows but she does not speak much english.

Any suggestions for shows that are visual and little dialogue? Blue Man Group comes to mind but she is older and would probably find it too loud.

    Maybe a Cirque show?

    Thanks in advance.

I think she'd enjoy Mystere at TI just fine... while there a side-plot goin' on with a big-baby, etc., it's very visual and easy to follow.

True of some of the shows, but the Criss angel, MJ One, and Love shows all have quite a bit of speaking (or singing!). But the other ones would be good

yeah but you don't need to understand the words in the music in order to enjoy the show. as far as Criss Angel ... that isn't really a Cirque show ... :poke:

There were a lot of foreign tourists at Jubilee! last year. That would probably be a good one.

Although, some cultures are totally OK with naked boobies and others not so much. Even the "covered" show wouldn't be OK in some cultures. So, that might be a consideration, the OP didn't mention it. But, it came to mind.

Zarkana. The characters speak their own (fictitious) language.

Shifter, thanks for that. She has heard enough Michael Jackson and Beatles to enjoy the moment. We are thinking my wife will take her to at least one Cirque show. I am not a Cirque fan and would much rather be in the casino. Wish I knew how to play Bacc

Sounds good, what is the show about? She is older and will complain about loud music, noise, etc.

I've been going to Vegas 40 years and would love to see an old school vegas show. I suggested it but my wife thinks her mom is too much of a prude to deal with the nicely shaped appendages that one would see during such a show.

We will go but maybe in December

Yes that is a concern. Rather than dealing with the drama, we will probably avoid Jubilee with her. My wife and I will plan to see it in December.

I think I would ask her about it rather than assuming. Topless and scantily clad showgirls go back over 100 years. She might think the new pop stars need more clothing but she might have a soft spot for an old school MGM musical-Ziegfeld Follies spectacle like Jubilee! It can't hurt to ask. (Unless she's the type of old lady who smacks people.) Hey man, there's some old ladies out there that are worse than frat boys. They could teach us all a thing or two.

Cirque shows don't make sense to many that speak English well, so maybe it's better that she doesn't.

I would expect her to say "Why is that scary clown walking backward with his head between his knees?" in her native language though.

It's like a dark circus theme with a bit of comedy thrown in.

It's good for non english speaking visitors because it's a story told through acts, body gestures and emotion.

If all else fails, go watch V over at Planet Hollywood. It's a smaller show but they have a little bit of everything; magic, acrobats, dance, singing, comedy, etc. etc. The only part she would probably not understand is the comedy but everything else you just sit back and watch. No nudity or scantily clad women either.
