Planned to go to Red Rock Canyon today. The gates are down. It is closed along with Lake Mead, Death Valley as well as other parks in the area.

Yeah, I'm on the road right now and there seems to be no way of knowing what's going to be closed and what's open. One campground closed, the next one open. Three lighthouses in a row were open, but the one I wanted to visit was closed. I'm trying to just be flexible and not set too many expectations.

It could be worse. I could NOT be on the road. ;)

I am going to the Grand Canyon on Tues the 8th, I hear that the Indians run the skywalk, and the West Rim is open.

Valley of Fire and Cathedral Gorge are both decent State Park alternatives to Red Rock.

Spring Mountain Ranch - State Park

The closure or Red Rock allowed us to explore Spring Mountain Ranch, also in the canyon. It was very nice and within the same scenic loop as the National park (Red Rock). Fun, quaint place for a few minutes and the volunteers as well as Rangers were very nice. They said the National closure has been a financial as well as visitor boon for all the Nevada state parks:
