CET resort fees - additional wifi device

Hi.

I just booked my annual Vegas trip with a buddy. This is the first time we're going to get dinged with resort fees. We're staying at Harrah's which is $18 plus tax per day and only included wifi for one device.
I have 2 questions:
1. How much is an additional device? There is no information on their website.

2. If the room is comped, why do we still have to pay the resort fee? I probably already know the answer, but I want someone else to confirm it.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

I understood no resort fees if you were Plat or above. On our spring trip - stayed at Bally's (I am Diamond) we had no resort fee - clerk said it was waived nor were we charged for using 2 devices. Daughter & s-i-l are Plat & also had no fee (again said waived) - clerk also waived s-I-l's daily use of workout facilities. I have read some posters who said they were charged.... ??? wonder if it depends on the person who checks you out or is it really inconsistent? Oh all nites were comped for both rooms...

 

No idea about the additional device. I've never had trouble connecting to wifi on more than one device with the "free" wifi.. Although I haven't stayed at Harrah's

Resort fees are charged unless you are Platinum or higher.

Does anyone know how it works at CET properties with respect to extra devices.
Do they just say one device but you can use as many as you have once you have the password? I'd hate to pay more at check in and find out it really wasn't necessary.

 

Don't mention at check in......try it 1st to see if your code works on multiples....

 

i belive u will have to pay for the extra one.

i belive if you use one laptop at a time and rotate that will also work so you wont have to pay an extra fee but you cant use your loaptops at the same time

 

Rotating devices isn't going to work.
We're both going to need to use tablets/phones to keep in touch with work at home. And being from Canada, its too expensive to roam.
Does anyone has any idea what an additional device would cost if it doesn't work for 2 or 3 devices at a time?

 

Couple of things - there is a program you can get that lets you share the Wifi connection from the connected laptop. Connectify I think.

Second, I had pretty good luck with Roam Mobility down there recently.

Full disclosure - Roam gave me a free plan to try out because I blog about my Vegas trips.

For that you'll need an unlocked phone and a Roam SIM. Their plans are $4 a day for talk/text/data (100MB a day).

I went a different way with the cell phone last year. I bought a cheap phone when I was in Buffalo about a year ago. It's pay as you go and quite inexpensive but a real pain to dial Canada. You have to go through an 800 number. You also can't text Canadian area codes.
Maybe it's time to rethink this.

 

From past experience, an extra device is 12.99 to 14.99 depending on which CET prop you are at. This is for a 24 hour period so I do it late one night till late next night then skip the next 'day time' period & start again late on night 3. You get the idea. Only pay for half the days I'm there but have at least a small or very large amount of usage time each day.

Harrah's problem as far as I know is that I believed it is ALL wired. I don't think any of the rooms are Wi-Fi. (Paris, Flamingo etc are) So you may have to go somewhere with wireless access anyway, as I doubt you will be able to get 2 devices hooked at one time when they are wired.

 

The OP said he is staying at Harrahs...there is no WIFI at harrahs. There is a rumor that the suites have it but there has been no real confirmation.

With that being said, has anyone tried to bring their own wifi router and see if it works. I have one that I can use.

 

Yes....trying to use my IPAD at Harrahs last year....they told me to go next door to MacDonalds. Gee thanks.
They REALLY need to get with the "WIFI program!"

 

The wifi router has to CONNECT to something. Bring all the routers you want, but unless they have an internet connection, they are just dead weights.

 

this is right, i just came back and half our stay was ceasars. my buddy and i were both able to connect to wifi but not at the same time. if I tried going on when he was on it would try to charge me for a additional device. i think it said 14.99 but am not positive. we could use different devices on it just not together.
