    My Trip Report

    First trip report! Scary!

Booked my flight with Spirit from Portland, Or to Vegas. I booked it because of the price, not knowing about all of Spirits "add-ons". After all said and done, it would have been cheaper to book with Alaska. We did backpacks to save on fees. But paid for the seats since D had never been to Vegas, and why would I not want to sit by him? And delayed on both legs. An hour delayed out of PDX.By the time we got to Vegas it was about 10:15 pm.

Now I have been to Vegas only twice. Once about 12 years ago. The second being back in June for a quick 2 night stay for my birthday. To get back, gave D (my boyfriend), a trip to Vegas for his birthday. It was back in July, but this is when I had vacation scheduled from work. Stayed at the flamingo in June, and got upgraded to the go room, strip view. It was awesome. Booked the flamingo again. Ended up getting all 3 nights comp. For one of the fab rooms. Anyway...

Grabbed a taxi. Not a long line at check in. Took about 15 mins. Now it is about 11 and didn't get much of a choice of a room. Ended up with some "suite" on the 6th floor. Overlooked the pool. Did not care for. Was old. But, off we go out to the strip. Tonight we just head down towards Casino Royale for some $1 beers. Had a few there along with some slot play. Nothing wins to write about. Head back to the Flamingo, going through Harrahs, and Quad.

Back at the Flamingo, we played in Margaritaville. Slots. No big wins. But some great drinks. Think we headed up about 2:30, 3:00. Feeling pretty good.

    Tues.
Up by 8.We are in Vegas. Down to the Casino. And out the door. Now I don't know how some people can remember everything that happens, but I don't. I do know we walked the strip to find something to eat. Decided that we would try Sammy Hagars Cabo Wabo. We both enjoyed out meals. And I also had the unlimited Mimosas. And enjoyed the strip and all of its lively characters while we ate. After breakfast we headed back to the Flamingo so that we could change our room. This had to be done between 11 and 1. Got up to the 18 floor, fab room, Ceasar view. Recently remodeled. Much better room and home base. The rest of the afternoon we explore the strip. Gambling and drinking along the way. Around 4 we decide to take a nap. Didn't think I would do this in Vegas, but after the drinking the night before, and this day it was much needed.

Woke up about 6:30. Starving. We didn't know where to eat, and we were so hungry, we just ate at the buffet. Not good. Not worth the money. The only good thing we ate was the prime rib. We learned. Never again. The rest of the night was just more slot play and drinking. Flamingo, Mirage,-did see the volcano erupt. Headed up to the room early, about 12:30.

    Wed.
Up early again. Downstairs we go. Decided to start the day off with morning drinks. We are in Vegas! Had a couple at the Flamingo, then off to the strip we go. Headed down towards MGM. Stopped and just had a couple of breakfast sandwiches at McD. Explored the casino along the way. At MGM, sat at the Bar and played some vp. And more drinking. Had a great time playing and drinking and talking with the bartender. Tony. He was awesome. Stayed much longer here then expected. I must like this place, because back in June, this is where I had the most fun playing and drinking also.

Again walked the and explored the strip the rest of the afternoon. Excalibur, NYNY, and others. Back to the Flamingo, again for a much needed nap. About 4, I think. Couple hour nap and we are ready to go. Decided to go to Hash Hash a Go Go at the Quad. Had a coupon for buy one get one. Got it when I signed up for their emails. I think through face book. We both loved it. Way to much food, but it was great. We did have some leftovers, so we headed back to the Flamingo. Played and drank here. Back to the Quad and played and drank. Back home we go. D was feeling no pain. He kept those drinks going. We did not head to the room until 3 or after.

Will finish the rest in a bit. Keep erasing what I wrote. Hitting the wrong Key?

Good job on the report. Nice being in the centre of things.

Can you give an update on the Quad casino and construction? We are going to be there early November.

    Thursday

Woke up a little later than we have the last few days. D a little hung over. Had a late check out of 12. Headed over to Quad and the Hash House again. Breakfast was awesome too. Saw someone get the chicken and waffles. Wow. That's a meal that can be split between a few people. Really like this place. Will go again when we get back some day.
Went back to our room and checked out. Used the express check out on the tv. No line for us. Checked our bags and walked down to Casino Royale and the quad. Did a little more slot play and a few beers. D still a little hung over. Back to the Flamingo to grab our bags. Got a taxi and headed to the airport. Back to reality.

    Slot play.

Of course lost overall. Both of us. But we did have our fun. I really had fun with the slot machine Buffalo. Played along time on this machine at the Flamingo and the Quad. Won $100 after playing a long time at Flamingo. Go lose more than half of it on a different machine, then back and would win it back. But could never go over that. Did win $230 on one spin on a Buffalo slot machine at the quad. Of course that was after I lost $200 there on other machines. D too had fun at Quad. Don't know what machine he was playing but cashed out at over $200.

Overall we had a great time. Can't wait to go back. D loved his first time in Vegas. Loved Vegas. Loved everything about it. We will return. As for the Flamingo. No problems. No smell. Yes, it is older. The hallways in the hotel can really do with some upgrading.Staff was great. Would stay there again. Won't eat the food. We also got a pizza one night before we headed up to our room. We thought that was awful too. D finally understands that there is more to do in Vegas besides gambling and drinking. Says next time we will take in a show or comedy club. Next time. Can't wait. Time to save some more money. Would like to go back in 6 months. Keep your fingers crossed.

There still is construction going on around the outside. Thought is was for the Ling. The inside has changed a little bit from the last time I was there. But I really didn't notice anything else construction wise.

Thanks for the TR - really enjoyed it. Their fast food court can be hit or miss. I enjoyed their asian fastfood. The Tropical Breeze Cafe ( near their terribke buffet) is actually pretty good. Last time I stayed there they had a great graveyard special of two filet mignon medallions & 2 eggs for about $7 and it was great - did it twice.

I was wondering what that place was. Was never open that I saw. Just a sign saying closed.

Nice trip report. Very well written- thanks for the breaks/paragraphs. Very easy to read.

Hate the TR's with 9,000 words crammed into a single paragraph. Unreadable.

Did you notice if Flamingo's main casino washrooms were open yet or not? (they have been closed)

    Thanks for the report!

Yes they were open. I wish they had more on the casino floor though. Unless there is and I never found them.

Good to know, since I will be there in a few weeks, and I'm not sure I could make it all the way back behind the buffet.[IMG]
    Thanks very much.
