We're going down to see MJ One at MB and the show is at 7 but I have to pick up the tickets before 4....any ideas on a great place (food, view or?) to eat and have a few drinks there, I don't know squat about MB.

    Thanks, Dino

They have the best selection of food on the strip. I've tried about 8 of them. All of them great. It depends on what type of preference you have.

If you like Mexican you could try the Border Grill owned by Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger. Their cuisine is modern mexican and you can look up their Las Vegas menu online. One word of warning, they charge you for water (I know, it's crazy) and won't get you a glass unless you ask. They tell you it's specially filtered water or something although I think it's a bunch of crock. I don't know if they still do that so I would ask before you "order" water.

There's a BOGO coupon you can get if you sign up for their VIP members club (no charge)

Rick Moonen Seafood is the closest restaurant to the MJ Theatre and I had a meal there that was really spectacular. The other place I quite liked was Hubert Keller's Burger Bar, and the HK Burger is delish - spinach, bleu cheese, caramelized onions on a buffalo meat patty. It's very filling - didn't have any appetizers and was too full for dessert. Like another poster said, the restaurants are pretty good at MB. Don't know if you are playing MyVegas but you can see what they offer (I know they had the Bayside Buffet at one time).

I just used the bogo coupon at Border Grill. I wished I sat indoors. I thought the patio would be cool overlooking the pools and tower, but their patio is just a plain closed in deck. Would sit indoors where the ambience might be better suited to an $80 meal (one appy, two entrees, one dessert, and two beers including the bogo coupon).

But MB has plenty of options. They have a nice restaurant row to choose from right off the casino floor although Border Grill is a lil bit of a hike away.

Definitely go up to the Mix lounge either before or after dinner. After the show, it can get crowded up there. Great views at the top!

Ohhhh, forgot about MB Place...the hallway that connects MB and Luxor. Burger Bar is one of my favorite places to get a burger. Luv their zucchini fries!

perhaps its just me but I think burger bar is over rated. that said however, I like the chef's French place Fleur. You can sit at the bar or a table around it and they have great smaller dishes. Also, if you are a drinker, go to the Foundation room and have one and admire the Strip view; it can't be beat.

I'm not sure of your price range but I did enjoy Stripsteak. I wouldn't call it my favorite steakhouse on the strip but we had a $50 off coupon a few years ago and it was enjoyable.

    Thanks gang!:nworthy:

Lots of good ideas and I think the RM Seafood looks like our kind of place. The virtual tour looks like there is a nice bar area in there too, is that correct? We usually enjoy eating a few appetizers, salad and wine at a nice bar....especially early in the evening like this will be.

Yes, RM Seafood has a nice bar area with tables large enough for appetizers or a meal. The pulled pork, bbq, four cheese jalapeƱo Mac and cheese app is heavenly.

RM Seafood is great. For food and view combined, though, Foundation Room is one of my favorite spots in Vegas. The duck confit is fantastic.

If you decide to go for a more formal dinner, I highly recommend Aureole. The food is excellent, and the ambiance is top notch. If you go, I recommend getting a reservation in the "swan court" section. The swan court is situated next to an outdoor lagoon filled with swans. In between courses the servers bring you a little plate of bread and you get to go outside and feed the swans. It's a pretty cool experience....my wife still talks about it.

Also, you may have heard of the "wine angels" at Aureole. The have a gigantic glass-encased wine tower in the middle of the restaurant and the wine angels go up and down via a pulley system to retrieve bottles of wine.

the bar at RM is fair. however he has a new place right above it that is really cool. its what they are calling steam punk. don't ask me but as I said there is a lot to see. i'd have a drink there for sure and then go eat at rm. also, as someone else said, you have to try their mac and cheese which has bbq and jalopenos in it!

Do you need a reservation for the Foundation Room if you are going just for the views and some drinks prior to any DJ coming on?

Their website is the best place to look for options - all the restaurants have their menus posted. http://www.mandalaybay.com/dining/

    • The newest restaurant is Kumi Japanese - I have not seen any reviews.
    • There is also the new Rx Boiler Room, but reviews have been mediocre.
    • Citizens is newish (24 hour, not expensive) - I was not impressed the few times I ate there.
    • Mix and Foundation Room both have amazing views.
    • lots of other high end choices - all good (Steak, French, Italian, Russian, Seafood, Mexican). Check out the menus.

To many to mention, the only ones I personally wont go to are Stripsteak and Border, both are over priced and you can get the same food or better at lower prices at other places. Aureole is our fav and they have a great bar with small plates as well as a well deserved reputation for high quality in everything, Fleur for small plates and the best people watching outside Mon Ami.
