I was in Vegas in May and thought that my next visit would be May 2014 at the earliest if I was lucky.
However thanks to taking some leave when the kids are away and some timely back pay from work I have just booked the last week in October and will be stopping at the Stratosphere this time, which will be my first time staying in a strip hotel.

I stayed there last November and liked the place, but I wouldn't personally call it a "strip hotel", it to me, is in a perfect location- halfway between the strip and downtown.

I have stopped previously at the Desert Rose, Tuscany and El Cortez on my visits to Vegas so far, so it's the closest I have been albeit being right at the top of the strip.
I have to agree with you that it is a perfect location between the strip and downtown and that was one of the reasons I chose it.

Agree that I wouldn't call it a "strip hotel" either by any stretch as it is quite a way from the strip still especially by foot. Does have good proximity to both Fremont Street and the Strip though if you like to do both.

I have never been on any of my trips but would like to check it out maybe on my October trip.
