So here's the basics... I had a trip earlier this year at Cosmo where my theo was high. Since then, they've been trying to get me to come back, but things keep coming up. So, I finally booked a return trip. Limo transfers, 2 nights in a wraparound terrace suite, $250FB, $400 promo chips. The thing is, I want to go on the trip, but I'm a little burned out on gambling at the moment. So, do I warn my host that my play might not be big, and tell her just to use my marketing offer from the casino. Or do I just go and play however I feel, and deal with it at the end of the trip?
I'd say it depends if you want to continue staying there long term. If you're not bothered, then don't mention anything. If you'd rather stay there than anywhere else then a quick heads up to your host might be appreciated. Put the boot on the other foot; I suspect that (unless you've built up a relationship with your host) the casino wouldn't warn you not to gamble large on the current trip because they were planning to cut comps next time regardless.
If they're offering to give you that stuff up front, I would take it. They're big boys and they know every upfront comp carries a risk. Its part of the calculus of their business. Enjoy what they're offering you based on your past play and if you low-play this trip they'll just offer less next time. If you didn't take the comps and low-played them it would be the same thing next time, so all you're doing is losing whatever is on the table right now for no reason.
Agree with KC. You earned the comp, and telling the host beforehand is unlikely to positively affect a future offer if you do indeed low play on this trip. I would only provide the warning if you have developed a very strong personal relationship with this host and know you get better than standard offers as a result.
I would never, ever, ever say this to a host. After all, you could wind up playing more that you planned. It happens. Alot. Or, he could decide to pull back on the offer and where did that get you? Nope, they still will try to get all the money they can from you with the least amount of comps.
What is offered up front isn't dependent on your play. That is taken care of in their calculation. Your play during that trip will determine if you'll get more comps , which are your dinners, drinks, room service, shows etc... So don't tell your host anything yet...you might end up playing more than you think once you arrived in Vegas!
Thanks guys. It's not a host that i have a long standing relationship, this is actually my first time using her, so I'll just go and see what happens. Thanks for all the input!
Or you can tell her that you ate at the buffet and got a horrible case of Diarrhea? Not that I have ever done this... OK, I did and it worked... Once.
yes. you don't know this host that well so you have no reason to try to "warn" him or whatever. just let it be what it is. I've had many trips where I showed up burned out and planning on not playing at all and then ended up playing a bunch. you never know.
Not to mention that the Cosmo treats gamblers poorly and they need some reciprocation to balance out the yin and the yang.
You may hit a hot streak and bet more. My play as rated by a casino has more to do with how the dice are falling than how I'm feeling. Because if you get on a hot run at a craps table, miraculously, you feel a lot better!
