Does anyone know if the Elco is still giving 5% free play on ATM withdrawals? Trying to decide where to get money. My normal rule is not ATM's in Vegas under any circumstances but I am a sucker for free money.

I did it twice in a week at the end of May. However, as of June, they started requiring a certain number of points be earned the month prior. I don't recall how many, but I think it was 1000 or something like that.

When I was there about 6 days ago I noticed they had signs next to the ATM advertising the 5% free play. They also had announcements in the casino about it.

This would be my first time getting the free play. I think I saw that the point requirement only came into play after the first time.

    What's the transaction fee?
It might not be worth it.

according to this pretty recent article it is $3.50 on the El Cortez side + any from your bank of course.....so probably about $5.00 total

and it is 5% with a max of $50 per month so you can pull $1,000 one time, pay $5.00 to $6.00 in fees (unless your bank is over $2.50 for a transaction) and come out $45.00 to $44.00 ahead

    http://www.gamingtoday.com/vegas_style_GoingOut/article/41021-Using_your_ATM_pays_you_at_El_Cortez_Hotel_Casino

doing it in $200 dollar increments (the lowest to qualify) would still leave you ahead a few dollars ($20 to $25), but make much less sense overall

Some banks(mine is one), dont charge anything on the other end, It's a good promo but it's also very dangerous to have way more cash than usual in a casino. If they lost money on it, they wouldn't do it.

Just did this on the 3rd. $1000 withdrawal resulting in a cool $50 free play. Transaction fee was $3.50. You have to withdraw the money, then go to the cashier cage and show them your card/id/receipt. They then hand you a coupon to take to the players club and they put it on your card there.

I asked to turn the $20s the atm handed me into $100s to which I was met with a suspicious look. Didnt want to walk around with a bulging money clip and I explained that and they went ahead and converted it.

Wow this is sweet for my bank who reimburses the fee charged from the other ATM, so I may have to check it out although I think $600 a day is my limit

I did this and it worked like a charm. EC charges $3.50. My bank charges nothing. I'm not sure why they have this promo other than most people probably aren't playing the freeplay and walking away. I assume this works well for them in the long run. From my perspective, thanks for a little extra walking money EC.

Regarding the daily limit, my bank lets me set whatever I want. I have mine at $1000 so I was only able to do $900 due to the $3.50 fee.

Mines normally set at $500 but when Im going to Vegas Ill call in and ask to up it to $1500 a day. Takes about 2mins once you get connected to the CS rep.

I did this in late April. Had to stand in line to get a card, then take the money out of the ATM, take the receipt to the cashiers cage to get the ticket, take the ticket back to the players card desk and they load the free play there. For your first time, no points are needed. My understanding is after the first time, you have to earn 1000 points on the previous month to qualify for the freeplay. I have no idea how closely they monitor this. I know the freeplay can be used in the Silver Strike machines. After that, I have no idea.

Other posters are correct, you can call your bank and have your ATM limit either temporarily or permanently raised.

For those who are eligible, USAA Federal Savings Bank rebates other machines' ATM fees, so this was a true $50 in my pocket (after the $1000 withdraw)...

    Good Luck!

    Promo Continuing Through September?

Hi, anyone know if this promo is still going on at ElCo? My mom and I won't be there til late September so I really need to know if it IS going on now, will it still continue into September.... if anyone has any insight I'd appreciate it!

I have my Bank of America checking account all bulked up now so I can take $1000 out at the ATM and get the full $50 free play! :wiggle:

I just did this promo last week, so yes it is still going on. I was told that after the first time you had to earn 1500 points to get this promo again (after 30 days) and you could do it once per month as long as you earned 1500 points every month.

Another El Cortez promotion I took advantage of was show them proof of travel on Alegiant (boarding pass) and get at least $10 free play.
