Well I was doing some cleaning in the basement today and was "instructed" to organize my books so I put together my Vegas library. Almost as interesting as the books themselves was the collection of book marks I found within.....

    my favorite books are:

Quiet Kingmaker, about how Roger Thomas helped build Las Vegas.
    Whale Hunt in the Desert
    Check Raising the Devil
    Storming Las Vegas

I've read all those multiple times. There are a few more movies & books I have lying around elsewhere.

    My favorite bookmarks are:

The Cosmo Las Vegas one my daughter made
    The Amazon.com AT-AT walker receipt
The circa 1991 photo from Circus Circus room
The mailer insert from Adam & Eve.

Dang... I thought this post was about something else. Last week, I drove past a large, one-story pink stucco building on Boulder Hwy (just north of Boulder Station). It was called The Library and the sign said, "Las Vegas' most beautiful librarians!!!" Turns out it's a strip club? Who knew?

They must have moved as I recall "The Library" in a different building on Tropicana (IIRC / otherwise Flamingo) east of the Strip, for many years. We would always chuckle while passing it. It was closed the past few times we passed it but I see they only moved to another location with a higher demand for books.

Speaking of books, I picked up two $1 books at Dollar General yesterday -

Cowboys Full - The Story of Poker by James McManus'
    and
Repeat Until Rich - A professional card counter's chronicles of Blackjack Wars.

I only picked up the second book because it was $1, but was very excited to score McManus' book since he wrote one of my favorite books BeeJay and others should consider adding to their library, Positively Fifth Street - Murderers, Cheetahs and Binion's World Series of Poker, which covers his journey playing in the WSOP in 2000 and also his investigation of the Ted Binion murder and subsequent trial.

Actually I think the library strip club has been in it's locale for at least the past 5 years or more, I remember getting some passes to the place many years ago. No, although I visit strip clubs I never visited the place. I drove by one night after bowling at sam's town but I didn't see any cars in the parking lot although the lights were on.

I visit a used book store in vegas when I'm there. it is in the same complex as the decatur trader joe's so after I visit TJ's I usually take a look at the used books there. I went to europe last month so I checked out the travel books too.

I have a small cache of craps books over the years, some with their systems, others even explaining how to set the dice. interesting reading but not much has changed with the game over the years.

I love how you have an actual textbook on Casino Game Protection lol.

I'm reading Addiction By Design right now, but of the ones you have that I read 24/7 by Andres Martinez is my favorite.

Thanks for some new book suggestion. Storming Las Vegas and 24/7 Living It Up and Doubling Down looked pretty interesting so I just bought them. Got them both on eBay for $9.33, not to shabby!

So I started reading " 24/7 Living It Up and Doubling Down" and what a dumb ass book. It's pretty much a 300 page trip report about a guy going to Vegas with $50K. I read 40 pages and said "this sucks" I've read way better TR on this site for free.

The Grand! What a great movie - Dennis Farina's character; "By the way, on this corner right here, I stabbed a bum."

Another plug for Positively Fifth Street. That is a good one.
