Probably from all the "RESORT FEES" they have collected over the last 2-3 years.........:)

Isn't this the fourth stadium proposal out there? I realize some are probably DOA now but still.

Is there even enough room back there? I know there's some offices behind NYNY that will probably go moved but still a 20,000 arena is not a small building.

Why do they even need that? Don't they already have the Grand Garden Arena??

Well, we can have our first half-finished abandoned arena to go along with our abandoned Skyvue ferris wheel, Fontainebleau, Echelon, St. Regis Tower, etc. :Þ

Yes, but it's 20 years old which is practically ancient by today's standards. It also doesn't have the revenue streams (i.e., luxury boxes) that a professional team would require.

I'm guessing that if the arena isn't attached to a casino, it will be looked at more favorably by the NBA or NHL. Remember, when the All-Star game came to Vegas they played at the Thomas and Mack Center.

I'm also guessing that if this arena got built, they'll either tear down the Garden Arena or convert it to a permanent concert venue.

I saw some follow up to article, that MGM has expanded the description now basically they are creating their own "Linq" minus the ferris wheel.

Ahhh so its that area that's sort of behind NYNY, not next to it because I was wondering how the heck they'd fit an arena on the strip between those two.

That's good, glad it'll be a pedestrian mall around it in that back area. It's a bunch of dead space and it could liven up the area

Well, at least that POS Tim Leiweke isn't involved. So there is a possibility that something good comes out of it, although i don't understand the need for another Arena. Corporate greed will be there downfall........we need to go back to the good old days and Tony Spilotro running the Strip.....LOL.

I can't see where they are going to fit this in without knocking down a parking garage or maybe two....I was obviously bored so I did a quick cut and paste of the Thomas and Mack Center into the area in question and it does not fit anywhere without taking out some parking garage and I am sure they are not taking out the huge Aria garage that is new and the NYNY garage they would have to take out the area with the access ramps so that is a no go

perhaps it is going to be behind the NYNY garage where the low level buildings are that I believe were the multi-million dollar "temp" construction offices for City Center construction.....but that is way back off of the strip and places a "feature" venue in BFE relative to the rest of The Strip and the casinos in question

I suppose if the building was more of a rectangle shape VS round like the Thomas and Mack they could squeeze it in between the street and north of the NYNY garage which would be a nice overall location

funny how with all the cash spent on City Center there was no arena built and there was not even a premium space left to include one in the future.....casino operators don't seem to be the best "look to the future" planners they are better with the get the dynamite and excavators out and blow something up and build new type of planning

I would have to guess that behind the NYNY garage and between the freeway is where it will go and those low level buildings will be gone

The the resentment, man? They aren't building it because there is no demand for it, and if it keeps bringing people in I don't see what harm it is doing?
