I was at Mandalay Bay May 9 - May 12.

I played 12.5 hours, $408 average bet BJ. I did not play a single penny on anything else (...at MB - played craps & roulette at Casino Royal).

    233944 tier credits earned.

This works out to about 46 tier credits per hour per dollar.

...just throwing out the numbers for other to crunch.

Thanks. I am always interested in these figures but they do seem to vary so much. I calculated that I earned around 17 TCs per hour per dollar on a trip last Autumn but my figures could be slightly off. Someone suggested around 22 TCs after a recent trip.

46 seems high. Out of interest, how many ECs did you earn and how were you treated for your play? Thanks.

I wish I could tell you.

I did a screen capture (iphone) early/mid trip when I was at $120 EC, but never did it again before my host pulled them to help cover cost/comps.

You played 12.5 hours at $408 average and the host used your ECs? :nono:

Did you come in on an offer? Presumably you had a suite and lots of F&B if the host was using ECs.

Oh, no worries there. I come in often and have a relationship. TheHotel. My room comp, +3 rooms at casino rate. 2 days cabana, about $1K room charges, 4 tickets to Stones, Limos as needed.

I was specifically watching tier credits because of the other chain about delays in credits posting. I always bring friends and often exceed my comps, so I expect my host to use EC as needed. I actually started the trip with about $300 in the after last trip (https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90211)

That number does sound much higher than what's usually been posted. Like Tubbs said its usually been around 22 TCs/hr/$ avg bet. Which is also the number MLife once used to publicize themselves (550 TCs per hour for $25 BJ). Alternatively the averages have been about 33 TCs per dollar theo. Putting them together would imply they used a 0.65% HA on a 100 hands/hr table, which seems reasonable. Did you get your theo from your host? You can also figure out your theo from your ECs, someone else can confirm but I think its 5% of your theo.

Under your numbers they may have used a very fast table (over 200 hands/hr if 0.65% HA). Were you playing alone?

Or do you deviate a lot from basic strategy (they may factor in skill at MB)? I'm assuming you didn't have any real money hotel spend to earn additional TCs.

Way higher than my last trip too. I earned about 1/2 of that amount, based on half your betting average and same number of hours. However, I didn't confirm that they recorded my time/bet accurately.

I did 15 hours at $140 and got 67K tier credits. About 10K of that was from machines though.

yeah, I was surprised at how many I got.

I normally play mostly at the HL tables alone or with 1 other person, but this trip I spent lot more time playing on the floor with my friends at full tables.

I am not sure why I got so many this trip:
    • I have 609K tier credits right now
    • I got 223K this trip for 12.5 hrs @ $408
    • That means I got an average of just under 200K for my other two trips (since the Oct 2012 reset)
    • My other two trips were both bigger than this one - 17 hrs @ $525 & 15 hrs @ $1,000

It makes no sense how much I earned this time, but I am 100% sure it is correct - I used the mlife app on my phone, and took screen shots before I got there and then each day thereafter.

    Very odd??

The only thing that I can add is that MGM properties do assign a skill level to BJ players, which could be affecting everyone's calculations ...

I guess it is possible that when I play in the HL area, they know me and peg me as a basic strategy player. On the other hand, out on the floor, they may just leave my skill level at whatever the default is - so maybe I earned more because I played more on the floor?

This would make sense if we were talking about theo, but not sure they would really use skill level for tier credits???

Not odd. I think when they did the Oct. 2012 reset, whatever they did in the algorithim to calculate the tier credits, it was wayyy off. I, too, played more on trips where I earned less tier credits. Only on this recent trip did I earn about 216,000 tier credits, which is in line with what I would earn prior to Oct. 2012. On other trips, the most I earned since the reset was about 70,000, even though I played the same.

Given what a mess their systems are, it is hard to imagine they would take skill level into account when calculating tier credits. However, the more I think about the issue, the more it makes sense and it would explain a lot of inconsistent data which have been reported on this board.

I was able to get my Express Comps: $141.78.
    • Using KickinChicken's 5% of theo rule, that would imply $2836 Theo.
    • Using my known avg bet and hrs, this would imply they used 100 hands/hr and an HA of .55%.
That all seems reasonable, and in line with my past calculations (I have gotten my theo on past trips). No reason to believe they used a different HA based on skill levels anymore.

But it does nothing to explain why I got so many tier credits.

NEW THEORY: they are trying to fix the problem with missing tier credits, so they review the big accounts when they are playing and they found I was owed some tier credits from my prior trips and added it to my account????

it's simple. the skill level goes into calculating theo. everything else is calculated from theo.

Right. I am sure that at MB, my account is flagged as a basic strategy player.

But that does nothing to explain why my Tier credits are so high this trip. Of my last three trips, I had the lowest theo on this most recent trip, but got far more Tier credits than the other two trips.

There's no skill level associated with slots...lol!!! So, that doesn't really explain the inconsistencies in my tier credits since last October. I typically play 20% Video Poker and 80% slots ($1 slots at $20 and $25 a spin, $25 slots at $50 a spin, with some $5 Top Dollar, $5 WOF and some penny slots thrown into the mix.). I just think their IT department is really f'd up and they had no clue it was all off until they had so many people complaining, then they finally looked at it and, like jdvegas said, they went back and fixed the tier credits for past trips.
