    Sonya, et al:

What are the chances/possibilities we can get a "sticky" thread on the progress/status of the Linq, [STRIKE]Bills[/STRIKE] Gansevoort, Fremont Street Zipline, and other major construction projects going on?

I'd hate to ask every two weeks how a certain project is coming along (both downtown and on the strip), and how much noise/congestion/frustration/hassle each is creating. With the Linq and Gansevoort and Quad projects causing so much consternation on the east side of the strip for potential Flamingo/Bally's/Harrah's customers (like myself), and the cluster that the Zipline construction is causing DT for upcoming visitors (like myself) I think a central location for everyone to check up on noise & traffic issues might do some good, instead of someone asking every 2-3 days. This way everyone who recently visited can give a quick blurb on what inconveniences (if any) they encountered, and post pictures if relevant.

The "park" project in front of NYNY and Monte Carlo, as well as the Fremont Zipline could all be updated in one spot. Kinda like the $20 trick sticky thread, as something is always being torn down/built/renovated in LV.

    Thoughts???

All those projects have dedicated threads that are fairly well updated in the "Casino Industry and Development" forum.

I don't think it's that big of a deal to need a sticky. It's really easy to book a different hotel if you think the construction is going to bother you...................

Nope, not by a long shot. Still seeing more recent questions on the other threads than on the Casino Industry thread.

Not that big of a deal? I see a lot of questions being asked around on this forum, which is why I brought it up. What's trivial to one may be a deal breaker for another. What if someone THINKS construction may be a big deal when it isn't? What if someone got comped @ the Flamingo or Bally's or Harrah's? Just saying to go somewhere if they're worried about possible noise may not be the best answer.

i really have no opinion on whether this topic is "sticky worthy".

however, as a long time member, on some days i am so frustrated by having to scroll by a bunch of stickies that may have interested me once, but have not been posted to for years...so how about nominating one or two stickies to be finally deleted or stuck away in archives for every suggested new sticky?

i will start with the vegetarian dining option thread in the restaurant forum.

Why would you book a hotel if you feel that nearby construction is going to bother you? Book a diiferent hotel!! If it is a deal breaker, BOOK A DIFFERENT HOTEL! How hard is that? Do you think anyone here has up to the date information for EXACTLY the dates you will be going as far as what will be going on, and what won't? Do you think anyone here will know exactly how the construction noise will impact the room you end up receiving at any of the above hotels? Do you even have dates planned yet to be worrying about this? How is any answer given this week going to be applicable to whenever you decide you are going?

Call the hotels if you have concerns. Use a different CET hotel. Go in two years when all the construction will be done and you won't have to worry about it.

    You're missing the point-

    1) It's not just about ME, it's for the folks who maybe just joined or haven't been to LV in a while, or maybe got an impromptu opportunity to visit.

    2) yes- in fact I DO have dates planned to be worrying about this

    3) Posters have asked way more specific questions in the past (as in WHEN EXACTLY will the construction be finished and what to expect). I'm simply entertaining the idea of a consolidated thread for everyone's experiences in regards to construction on a major chunk of the strip/DT.

    4) As for calling the hotels for information-it's their business to take my business/money (grain of salt warning). Maybe actual board member's experiences would paint a better picture.

    5) I'm not postponing a trip just b/c something MIGHT be under construction somewhere. Just on a fact finding mission, and a willingness to help others.

    6) If member X stayed at The D last week and had a hard time navigating thru the zipline traffic, but member Y stayed at the Bally's North Tower in a reg room & heard nothing (or everything); that would be good info to access quickly without having to wade thru numerous TRs.

I'm going to LV next month regardless; my OP was an attempt to consolidate construction info for the good of the board. I have seen several new members (or new posts) asking about the construction concerns around the Flamingo Road area and the Zipline downtown in the last few days. For someone who's not in Cali within driving distance & can only visit 1, 2, times a year (airfare, HELLO) this could be a big deal.

ETA: If everyone just called the hotels for information- this board would have no reason to exist!

    :peace:

I don't think it would bad to have a sticky for construction up-dates. I had no idea that the shuttles are not allowed at Flamingo right now. I found out by reading other boards and reviews. Flamingo never brought this to my attention when I called them for other questions...it was the shuttle service who gave the the details when I found out about it.

I agree with this. Even if there is a sticky, people will still post updates on other portions of the board. I post updates all the time in the "Casino Industry and Development" forum, and then hours later people are posting the same thing in different areas. I think it would be more helpful if the moderators would move construction posts from the other areas to the "Casino Industry and Development" forums when they find them.

We've talked about this and we are going to try to be more dilligent about moving construction/development related threads to the Casino Industry & Development section.

If we miss one, feel free to use the report post icon [IMG] in the upper right of every post to let us know that it needs to be moved.

    Thanks!
