Wow... you're so correct, I was in front of it on Tuesday, April 16th with my windows up and the AC on stopped at the light on Paradise... it was pungent and the light took awhile. Yuck!

The Key Largo used to be the spot me and my guy friends HAD to hit when we landed in Vegas cause it had the $3 burger special and $0.50 all day happy hour beer! The place was a dump but man we had so many good memories there. Evene stayed there once (had a "suite" that was HUGE) Oh yeah: my friend once won the jackpot on the pennie machines there..and had to be paid in person by an attendant-$6.00! Lastly, there was a Russian(?) cocktail waitress that used to work there that to this day, my friend still talks about :)

I stayed there once when it was the Ambassador Inn and was still fairly new (1970s?). All the rooms were rather large and each room had a small kitchen. There was a center courtyard with landscaped gardens and pool area. I don't recall there being any casino back then.

The place went through a succession of ownership and name changes. I returned a few times for the happy hour deals while it was operating as the Key Largo. It was showing a lot of wear then and it was clear that the place was struggling to survive.

Never been in it but here's a pic from the bus stop right across the street. Did not smell any thing out of the ordinary but then I was just in Terribles so I may not have had a fair baseline.

I saw it while I was there last week. It's a total loss and that's pretty sad.

This was my view from my room at Hard Rock a month before the fire:

I looked down and though, I wonder how many homeless are wandering around in there right now.

Probably none, there was security there each time I passed a few weeks ago. I imagine they would have to ensure it was if the homeless guys did get in so better to ensure they don't.

was in there once probably in the late 80's/early 90's. Talked to a lady that was either the manager or higher up employee, lamenting about how vegas was better in the good old days. (just think how much better it would be in the good old days now)

Yes, but at least 10 years ago.

We stayed at Terribles, then newly remodeled from the old Continental. Walked up to Key Largo just to see what it was like.

I remember it as being dark and quite dead. We played there for a while and walked back.

I stayed at this place when it was the old La Mirage and liked it quite a bit.
