Hi-- Does the amount of one's marker have any bearing on comps and offers? I maintain a much lower marker than I could be approved for simply as a means of self-discipline. But I read something the other day that made me wonder if having a larger marker could somehow have a positive bearing on my status or offers. even if I don't use it or only use a small portion of it. Anyone know? Thanks!
Your play is by far the biggest factor. Bigger LOC might help a little if you are under-banked for your play level with your current LOC, but not much.
It is not the size of your LOC, it is how much you put into play. You could have a $100k line of credit, but if you are only putting a maximum of $20k into action, they treat you as a $20k customer. It still comes down to amount of hours played x average bet, and how much theo this generates for the casino.
If you're a new player to that casino, yes a large line can help on some of your upfront comps because you "appear" more willing to put more money at risk, but if you open a $50K LOC and only play $2K, that's going to bounce you down a bit and if you do it a 2nd time, any host is likely going to just disregard your LOC amount entirely, because obviously you're not really willing to put your LOC amount at risk. My host knows my LOC is back up only. I carry my cash and only take out markers when the Gods appear against me
Thanks for the responses. I am very aware that comps are based primarily on play but was curious about whether an LOC could serve as a kicker. What these responses have confirmed is that the rewards are not based on the size of the marker, but how you use it.
LOL. ...and congrats on being famous! http://www.vegaschatter.com/story/2013/4/24/14933/4807/vegas-travel/More+Changes+Probably+Ahead+For+MLife
If all anybody had to do was to show a high LOC/Marker to get free suites, meals, etc - then lots of people would do that. Why bother gambling at all? In the end, logic will win out.
Well it does work. There was just another thread about it here: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92130 Of course that is just for the first time. It wouldn't work the second time at the same property.
it would work a couple of times. the second time you won't get quite as much, but still get something as the host is just hoping the first trip was an aberration. it definitely won't work a third time.
