First day is going to be long and hellish but I'll be in Vegas so things could be much worse......... I work graveyard and get off work at 6:30am. The problem is my wife works days and doesn't get off until 2:20pm. We don't fly out of the nearest airport, but one a couple hours south of us (more on this in a bit lol). So.....she'll get home at 2:30 we'll load our stuff up and daughter and her stuff and hit the road for Friday traffic. Going past Joint Base Lewis McChord is always hell, it's the local army/air force base (ironically most people I talk to stationed there, the only bitch they have is about the traffic in this state around that base.....hhhmmmmm LOL). So we'll crawl by there and arrive at my moms house, she's the sitter. On a light traffic day that would take 1:15 minutes or so, on a Friday, who knows? I have a feeling I'll take the backroads on the east side of the base, it's a slower drive but it's more predictable. We'll hang out there for a bit, then they'll give us a ride to the airport that's another hour south of them. We could turn around and head north to SEA but it's even further than PDX with LOTS more traffic, not to mention it's a bit cheaper to fly out of PDX and it's a nice small airport. Our flight leaves at 9:15pm so we should have plenty of time. We'll arrive in Vegas at 11:22pm, at which time, if I haven't had a nap, I will have been up for 26 hours
Our rough itinerary: We have Fri and Sat night booked at Monte Carlo We have Sun and Mon in the Mandalay Bay Suite (Thank you myVegas!!!) We have myVegas rewards for The Bellagio lunch buffet (when it was for 2), buy one entree get one free at the Monte Carlo cafe, 2 specialty cocktails at Fleur. Going to try and grab another drink/food reward before we go. Saturday night we'll be headed to Red Rock Casino to see the Jeff Bridges concert and Sunday we have dinner reservations at Smith and Wollensky's steakhouse. Other than that it's going to be lots of laying around and drinking and relaxing I think since the first of the year I've had 8 nights off? We're swamped at work and will be until summer. This trip is going to be an awesome getaway!
will write up a trip report in a bit, just got home. Flight was good but a ton of traffic on the way home. at least we brought some sun back with us
Trying to create some "Cliff Notes" of the trip that I can add details to later. We got in late Friday night and all of a sudden Saturday night to Sunday morning is fuzzy LOL. Studying maps and receipts to make sense of this
