    Hello,
My question might sound weird, I'm not even sure how to ask it.

I'm a professional photographer and I would love to get shots of the entire city at night.
Since my June trip will be my first in Vegas, I would like to know where to go to take the photos I want.

It can be the top of a building, or from any point of view. Just need pointers to start my search and plan my shoots.

If there's any other places, or landscape around LV that could be interesting to shoot, please write them here and I'll look them up.
    Mountains, or desert.

Thank you so much for your help.

Well, both Voodoo and Mix lounges would be up there, literally. Both are lounges at the top of the Rio and Mandalay Bay hotels. Mix has no cover charge before 8pm, I think, weeknights only perhaps.

Just walking around at street level can make some interesting photos. I'm thinking of the Bellagio fountains from a low angle as well as the pirate ship during a show at TI. Same thing with Fremont St downtown with some nice long shots all the way down.

Of course, Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire are nice for desert landscapes.

Mix or Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay offer a great view of the strip from the south looking North. They both have outside balconies too. This is a view from Mix (not my picture)

You will never run out of awesome photos to take. Even taking photos of one thing from different angles might be mind-blowing.

I get some of my best shots by accident.

One of my favorite photo slideshows here was one that captured the current "culture" of Vegas. It was more than the buildings and the landscape, it was the people and the atmosphere. The place is certainly electric.

Just one full day in Cosmopolitan is a feast for the senses...and it is ever changing. I once categorized the place as walking as though I was in one big diamond. And each hotel/casino has several "jewels". Flamingo has the gardens. Mirage has the volcano. TI has the pirate ship. Venetian has the little boat thingy. Luxor has the sphinx. ....and that does not even begin to speak to the beauty of these buildings inside and out....not to mention that this is only the strip. The old vegas feeling of downtown is enchanting.

Top floor of the airport parking garage has quite a view.

If you want to be a professional photographer then this is what you will probably want to do:

Day 1: walk around The Strip at night, take a few photos and find what you think is interesting and would make a good photo. Its good to have some comparative close up shots for detail and placement of buildings/sights on The Strip.

Day 2: go to VooDoo Lounge at RIO (its a bar/nightclub on top of the hotel) and scout locations from that angle, take a few sample pictures. Then take a taxi to Stratosphere and go up to their observation lounge and take a few photos and scout locations and shots you want from there.

Day 3: during the day devise a point to point plan for what you would like to take pictures of and from what angles. At night rent a helicopter, about $300/hr, and give the pilot your flight plan. Take photos.

    Good Suggestion!

OP - Obviously you will not get the entire city unless you "task" a satellite but you may also want to think about from
the top of The Eiffel Tower, from one of the many sky bridges, Eli Roth's Goretorium balcony or a Cosmo Terrace room.

Speaking of accident, looked out at the Luxor one night from the Gold Coast and the beam was shining just off the full moon and every few minutes got closer.I opened up the window and by then the beam was directly on the moon. But the picture turned out pretty poor,I had to hold the camera outside with no support and could have had the settings better also..Hope to catch it again sometime, first week of September this was a few years ago.
I think it's a pretty scene to shoot.

Two places come to mind, the top of the parking garage at Green Valley Ranch at night makes a great strip view. I used that shot for wallpaper for quite a while. Red Rock at night looking at the strip.

    Awesome picture.
Would like to know the camera setting to get a shot like that at night.
There don't appear to be any streaks by the road from the cards so I wonder just how long the shutter was opened.

FYI - I took photos on the top of The STRAT and they refused to let my tripod up there. They told me it was a security risk. They said i could attack people with it. Mind you the TSA allowed it as a carry on. So f'n stupid. :grrr:

Oh and my photo (pre city center)

I snapped this from my room at Treasure Island a few years ago:

The main issue with the photo location is the parking garage at the bottom, which is cropped from this pic. The other issue is the double pane glass likes to give an extra reflection, so you get almost a ghosting on the image. This was the 22nd floor, if I recall correctly, so a higher room may give an even better view, though I do kind of like the view from in the middle of everything.

I agree the top deck at GVR looks over the whole city and includes the strip. Pretty cool.
