    My Trip Report

Since I've typed a TR out twice and lost it...this will possibly be a shortened version...March 27-April 2 @ Bally's....our usual home is Paris but Bally's showed us more love with 6 free nites. :). Had reserved CET limo to & from airport and both drivers were nice and personable...really enjoyed their professional service. ($64 in comps each way with a $30 tip) Checked in at the Diamond check-in - girl was pleasant but not much personality. The clerk we had at check-out...Jennifer was just the opposite. So very nice and extremely efficient. Without asking, she took off the safe fee we shouldn't have been charged since we are Diamond players. Our room was on the Diamond floor of the North tower and it looked like it had just been remodeled - nice but a horrible view of the dark Bill's. Rather depressing but we did see construction work going on inside at a mad pace...

We began our day 5 mornings at the Blu Pool - the 1st one with one of the great foo-foo drinks. They make great margaritas and decided the large one was a better value. They said the small one had 2 shots and the super large had 3....NOT. The bartender keeps pouring into the glass in-between the actual shots. Mine had over 5 shots and I quickly felt the effects...lol. The thing lasted me several hours....wish I had one now!! We love their pool because the music is not too loud and it is easy to find a lounger. It was crowded but relaxing. Now, on Saturday...the 20 somethings came in and the music was turned up and the party began. They were having a great time and didn't really bother anyone....heck it provided a pretty good show at times. :)

We saw 2 shows this trip. MJ Live at the Rio (they are handing out coupon books in front of Bally's that has a coupon - buy 1 ticket & get 3 free) The "Michael" was really good - had the moves down and his voice was dead-on. The show is a real deal. We also saw Jubilee for the 1st time. Very old-school LV - just what we expected and are glad we saw it with our free Diamond tickets for March. Since April began on Monday...decided to get tickets for Anthony Cools for that nite but that is the one day he is off and we left on Tuesday evening. Maybe next time. Our kids went to Absinthe and thought it was one of the best they've seen. They saw Daniel Negroneu the poker player there with 4 girls (sorry for guessing at the spelling...lol) Think we may go see it next trip.

Our daughter & son-in-law get massages about every trip & tried Bally's Spa this time. Daughter had a guy named "Long" & she said it was her best massage ever! She is asking for him next trip. Now, the s-i-l was a different story...he had a girl who put so much oil on him working on his back and she proceeded to fall on him and then to the floor....OMG..... :)

Food - Usual good food & service at the Burger place at Paris. Tip - try the grilled chicken salad...it was the bomb - terrific blend of spring mix, candied walnuts, raspberries, bleu cheese crumbles...YUM!!

Had KGB for lunch one day so we could once again get the sliders. All was good but the service was terrible.

Mon Ami Gabi...we waited for a table outside and by the time we were seated, the sun had went down and the wind picked up...not ideal for enjoying the view & food. I tried the French Onion soup and now know why everyone raves about it...the best ever.

Cypress Marketplace @ Caesars - always go to get the Lobster Chowder at The Lobster Chowder Company. Well, very disappointed but they decided to take their signature dish off the menu.... WHAT??? That is the name of your restaurant. Won't bother to go back.

Finally gave Earl of Sandwich a try and it was also very good. Hubby & I split the meatball sandwich and it was enough for both of us. I also got the tomato soup (great value at $2.99) - it has cheese croutons and worth a go-back next trip.

Did the Buffet of Buffets upon arrival on Wednesday (a must do for us) because I really wanted to try the new buffy @ Caesars but due to our show schedule - was not able to get over there.

Margaritaville for lunch before heading to the airport - had to have the Volcano Nachos!! Wonderful as usual.

We are BIG IU & UL fans (live in southern Indiana just across the river from Louisville, KY) We watched the NCAA games at the Rio Sportsbook on Thursday - boo...disappointed at the IU loss. Friday we watched the UL win at the burger restaurant at Paris....maybe..possibly cheered a little to loud since we were far ahead...but - who cares... lol
We saw some UL fans roaming around Bally's early on Sunday and we all went to Bally's Sportsbook to watch them take on Duke.... they certainly knew they had a big group of UL fans...we loved beating Duke by a large margin. We were terribly saddened that Kevin Ware (UL 6th man) grotesquely broke his leg in the 1st half... it was horrible but was very proud of the rest of the guys to re-group to win it for K-5.

We did go to The Quad and really like what they've done so far. The slot options were very limited but there is a totally new vibe in that old place. Oh- FYI - Pinks Hotdogs is in a feud with CET and no longer accepting comps as payment...we almost got to mark that one off our bucket list but were sticking to places were we could use the boat-load of comps we amassed from our local riverboat and 2 years of Great Race comps.

4:00 on Tuesday finally rolled around and we headed to the airport. Never have seen it so quiet...didn't take 10 minutes to get thru security and on our way to the gate. Our flight home was only 40% full so every could spread out and sleep for the 3 hour direct flight home. Got home about 1:30 am, slept in and attacked the mountain of laundry we amassed over 6-7 days. Hubby got up about 3pm, read the paper and said, "Let's go to the boat!!"...and so we did - lol. We are just ate up.... :)

This trip was a celebration - daughters 41st birthday and my retirement....Yeah!! I work 1 more week to wrap everything up and pass the torch to someone else to worry about. I'll be busy planning our next trip .... :):):):)

Hi Sybgal - Thanks for the nice report - enjoyed it.

I stayed at Bally's last week and really enjoyed it - North Tower, Diamond floor with a view to the East. Nice big room, and clean - also enjoyed the Blu Pool. More laid back than many, but it was what I needed at the time.

I like the fact that there are 2 banks of elevators (one for high floors, one for low floors) - never had to wait and they are really convenient. Also like the food options and the lower level Promenade.

Glad you had a nice trip and thanks again for the report.

Nice report and congrats on joining those of us in the ranks of the retired. You'll love it.

Quick question: Our last 3 trips we said we were going to try Mon Ami Gabbi and didn't make it. Trying something different this time - planning. We are committed this trip to make a Tuesday lunch. How long did you have to wait for an outdoor table?

Joe - it was about 5:30 and got called at 6:00...which was great but 2 of our group were running late and had to wait again....maybe 25 minutes more. Not bad at all since there are slots right there to distract you. The food was certainly worth the wait. Good luck and hope you enjoy!

Funny you mention Long the massage attendant. I have been going to see him every trip for the past two years and I plan on seeing him again next weekend. He is fantastic and fully recommend him to anyone!

Big, Big ones with the lid were $26...it had 5-6 shots and the margarita was wonderful...perfect in fact. :) Heck, the small 16 oz were $15 and were supposed to have 2 shots but the way those guys pour...would have 3.
3 shots in that small of a glass would be mostly booze....don't think I would have liked those....

    Caesars upcharge

WARNING! If you buy the Buffet of Buffets ($49.95 for 24 hours) and want to have dinner at Caesars as one of your choices, you have to pay an additional $25 upcharge. (Don't know what happens at breakfast or lunch; I'm guessing there is no upcharge for those meals.) I was pretty disappointed in that it isn't advertised that way. I paid it anyway and the new Caesars buffet IS pretty special (tremendous selection), but your going to have to pay extra for it. I think list price for just dinner is $49.95.
