    Hi guys,

I am able to get away for my wife for 1 weekend - the 1st weekend of May. It is the first 'baby free' trip since she was born, and we find out that it is the weekend of the Mayweather fight.

Prices look like they are ridiculous - and comped rooms for that weekend have disappeared.

On the positive side, it means it is going to be absolutely crazy that weekend - which could be fun!

So - any suggestions on where to stay - and is it worth the increased price to stay on the strip?

I think it's worth staying on the strip. Have you tried ballys, excalibar, Monte Carlo? I know not top tier, but if cost is a factor they're the ones to check...

    It's also the Kentucky derby.

Well, first I'd go to a site like Kayak.com and see what is the most reasonable. Then maybe check for promo codes..

Also Priceline and Hotwire are a good option for weekends like that. Just did a quick search for Friday-Sunday on hotwire. Doesn't seem too bad. You have to plan on spending $100 on any Friday-Saturday night in Vegas anyways for a decent property.

4 star North Strip (probably Treasure Island) $127. Or 5 star North Strip (Trump) for $172.

Also on Priceline Express deals, similar deals to those. Trump is $166 (5 star north strip). Even a 1 bedroom gigantic suite for $182. (highly highly recommended by me!)

If you want to give exact dates maybe we can be more exact for you :) But from my quick research looks like TI and Trump are handing out the best deals that weekend.

I know people hate the quad but its just so cheap and its a great locations. plus it is usually free or heavily comped so its hard to beat that price. if a hotel is just a place to sleep go with the quad. if you wants a nicer place maybe go with bally's.

MC and Excal will be jacked up because they are MGM properties near the event. Try north strip for something more reasonable that weekend.

Trump is nice, but not on strip.

We stayed at the Trump last September. The hotel and rooms are very nice. Bathroom was very large, with large shower and tub. The pool is nice, not particularly tropical, but cabanas were about $150/weekend. Good price. But, the location is "off strip." We walked across the street and through the Fashion Show Mall to get to the strip. Ended up buying all sorts of stuff as we kept going through the mall. There is one restaurant in the lobby, and another cafe by the pool. Both not particularly memorable...and no casino. The place was fresh, smelled good and service was very courteous and prompt. Overall, a nice stay...but not your typical Vegas experience.

I've been twice it's fantastic! 1200sqft 1 bedroom 2 bath suite. Spa tub.. It's really nice. For $165, so worth it. But there is no casino, you could walk into the mall, and probably to the Wynn, the location is a little inconvenient.. I guess it depends if that bothers you. But for the money it's an extremely good value. I'd much rather stay there then stay at Luxor or something for the same price or more.

Haven't been to the pool but they do have one. Here's a picture.

I echo what the other person said, it's just not typical for Vegas, but it's an extremely nice place. I personally liked getting away from the smoke and casino for a while

Chalk one up to "only in Vegas"....

So all of my usual comps were invalid because of the gong show weekend. In fact, my players cards rates for CET and MLife were downright worse than a regular rate would be in a nonbusy weekend.

So I used my myvegas points and had no problem getting comped at Mirage for 2 nights and Monte Carlo for 2 nights, in spite of what weekend it was.

    You figure that one out.....

Good news is...I am set! 2 Nice pool complexes (wife happy) and 2 central-ish locations.

    Thanks everyone!
