I'm practicing craps online for upcoming Vegas trip. I've tried several strategies that I've read about or seen on you tube. Seems most are based on a good, sustained roll, but reality seems to be that just when you are set up to start collecting, up comes big 7(usually). So....I've tried a different approach...which I have not seen anywhere. I bet pass, come...2 bets, with odds on board. When one hits, I switch betting to don't come bar....2 bets, odds....then let it play out....I've had some success with this.
Ever try anything like this??...Ever hear of it??...does it have a chance??
What other things do I need to consider?
    I'm sure it's too simplistic, but I'm a beginner.......several bets and odds I don't understand yet.
    thanks

Craps is like any other game where the outcome can change in an instant. Your proposal to change from come to the don't come mid roll has no science behind it to support that it is an advantageous strategy. You can certainly get success with it short term, but by doing this, you can just as easily erase all your profit from the come bets if the shooter remains hot and continue to lose more if you keep betting on the don'ts. All craps rolls are independent of the previous rolls so just because a 7 hasn't been rolled in the past 10, 15, 20, 25 rolls, the likelihood of it rolling doesn't change. It is still 1 in 6.

Now back to your question as to whether anyone has tried this? I rarely see people playing this way although I have seen it with both instances of people winning and losing from it. I have never done it myself and open to trying it out.

First off, the answer to the 'will this work at craps' question is always 'depends on how you roll.'

What's going to happen with your system is that you're going to work as a hedge against yourself. Since you're getting two comes and a pass out there before you switch, you've got the potential for a big loss if you set 3 points and then seven out. You then switch to dark side after you hit one, meaning now you can only win one or lose two if you seven out.

So you're basically going to chop off any big run. It's a method, and it could tend to help you keep more even on a short roll. But you're setting yourself up for small wins and big losses (although the losses will be less frequent)

When those Hardways start hitting...it is THE most fun you can have with your clothes on!

My advise is to start slowly and get a feel for the table and the players.

Once you have found a table that you are comfortable with then try your scheme and find out it works for you. Good luck!

I've been practising something similar for many many hours. I'm doing $5 pass, single odds unless it's a point of 6 or 8 then double odds. If a 6 or 8 is rolled I'm placing $5 on the six or eight, $3 on 5 and 9 and $2 on 4 and 10.

If point is 6 or 8 I'm replacing whatever placed number wins the be and keep on going until the point is rolled or seven out. If thenpoint is any other number I'm waiting until I've won two numbers, taking sll bets down apart from 'pass' and then betting $5 on placing the don't numbers on each number. Not sure of the right terms cos I'm only still new at Craps. This nearly always wins a bit either straightaway or after a few rolls and my plan is to then walk away or just start without another hundred note.

I just want to spend time rather than risk a lot. If I can walk away $20-$40 up on nearly all sessions and lose a hundred every now and again I will be happy just not to have lost it all yet again, lol.

I won't be brave enough to try this somewhat weird thing out on the tables so it will be the bubble thing for me.

This system won't work anywhere I know of in Vegas because you can't put $3 on the 6 and 8, you have to put $6...and that's at the lowest tables.

Not sure of your strategy; you seem to be running a lot of risk by hanging all the numbers out there (if that's actually what you're doing).

In my experience, if you want to burn time and minimize risk, while having a snowball's chance in hell of turning ANY kind of profit, go for passline ONLY and MAX odds, or pass line with single odds and place the 6 & 8, or max passline odds if the point is 6 or 8.

Not sure about the bubble craps and how much the minimum bets are; you'll be hard pressed to find a table with $5 mins, much less $3, and doubtful if ANYWHERE has $2 mins.

Try running the passline & max odds through whatever simulator you're using, and make sure to try it with a $5 minimum to see how it goes.

I REALLY suggest you take the dive and get in on a real live $5 table somewhere (DT, Casino Royale, etc). There's NO othetr felling like actually getting to pick up those ones and give 'em a toss down the felt.

Minimum bet was $3 on bubble craps at Ballys in December and you could put $1 on the numbers if I remember correctly. I tried just doing the pass, odds and 6 and 8 and got very bored. Would quite like to play at a table but am a little scared until I know a bit more about it. Having fun trying to find something that doesn't lose much and keeps me interested. I probably need to spend time watching on a table and doing just the basics for a while until I'm confident about the different bets. I'm getting there, albeit slowly.

Like a response I made to another poost on this board, I have to really question anyone who advises a pass and max odds strategy as a way to "burn time and minimize risk"

If you are at a table with 10 times or 20 times odds or more, you can lose your buy-in with a couple of quick seven outs. This is not what I would refer to as burning time and minimizing risk. :vomit:

What you orginally proposed will help you milk a $100 or $200 buy in for several hours - if that is your intent. My guesss after two hours you might be up $100 or down $100. You do not have much of a chance of doubling your buy in or more.

In my view, the best strategy is one where you start each shooter slow and increase your bets the longer the shooter continues to roll. At a $5 table, I will start with a pass line with double odds. Then I add $5 or $6 place bets on two numbers - avoiding the 4 and 10. So that is about a $25 investment in the shooter and I have three numbers in play. I will collect any winning bets until I recoup my $25.

After recouping, I will increase my bets. As each place bet wins, I will increase the bet by one unit. So if I have the nine for $5 and it hits, I increase it to $10 and pocket the $2 profit. Hits again, go to $15 and pocket $9. This way, with a hot shooter on a long roll, you are pocketing profits and re-investing some on your win. I can ride this up as long as it keeps hitting.

Also, once I get my original $25 back, I will cover more of the numbers. After each passline winner, I will add another place bet (or add a come bet with double odds.) after the next point is set. So now I have the point and three numbers in play. Then the fourth and finally all five. And as each hits, go up a unit. As a come bet hits, set a new one or place the number.

This approach will limit my loss to $25 per shooter but gives me the upside to make some serious coin with a hot shooter.

My betting premise for this particular situation is based on 3x4x5 odds. Nothing else. Now MY betting strategies differ greatly, as I wont do pass line & odds only unless I took a royal beat down. It's just my $0.02. My style of betting depends on my bankroll, action on the table, and the shooter.

I am sure every strategy out there has worked once before, but than fails all the other times.

As an avid craps player my strategy is to stick with my base bet. Pass Line, Odds and 6 & 8. Now the key is to play the table accordingly and make adjustments. For example, normally I skip the hard-ways or just toss $1 on them, but last trip it appeared the hard-ways were popping up left and right so I jumped on those bets and made for a great night.

Also, a shooter kept rolling 4s and 10s which I usually don't bet but you can be sure I jump on those bets too and would increase the bet with each win.

If the table does seem cold then stick with the base bets or move to the next table.

This is my strategy as well, but I always bet at least the 6 and 8 hard. When they start to hit, it is THE most fun you can have with your clothes on.
