Thinking of doing this on my upcoming trip:

Start off my morning gambling foray by throwing a Benjamin on the roulette table and bet it all on Black.

Win or lose, I leave. Do this every day of my trip. If I win, I have an extra benjamin to play craps, VP, or slots. If I lose, well... I'll consider it loss control and part of money mgt. because I tend to chase big losses when playing roulette. (Losing a benjamin on one bet is a big loss for me.)

Do they allow "money plays" in roulette? I know they allow it in craps, depending on the boxman.

I've heard sometimes the dealer will have to check with the pit critter or they'll say I have to buy-in with chips then bet it all if I wish.

"Money plays" will work for me because I'll just throw the hundy down before I lose my nerve. If I have to buy-in the time factor to do so will make me think twice about it and I might chicken out.

Do they still allow this in roulette?

Probably going to be hit and miss. I've seen a few casinos allow it and then many others not allow it.

Would it feel that much different to get a black chip and place that? I understand it is another step, but it should be a fairly quick step.

Part of money management? Classic Vegas logic. I love it.

Which ones didn't allow it? I feel as if I've seen it allowed anytime someone tried -- at least on those outside even money bets.

I didn't realize money plays anywhere anymore? I thought the IRS cracked down on that

I haven't seen money plays in a long time. I've seen signs on tables saying no money plays. Not saying it's not allowed, just what I've seen.

$100 dollar bills (only) play in most Vegas poker rooms (in addition to the chips). Not uncommon to see a wad of 100's behind a tower of chips during some of the higher limit games.

It's so much more fun to get $5 dollar chips and scatter them across numbers.

I understand this isn't what you are asking but if I was doing this id play the field - 2 or 3 times for 2/12, lower house edge but higher ROR.

On my latest trip a guy did this for about 1100 - must have been in his very early 20s and I get the impression this was a good chunk of his BR. His hot g/f was the shooter. She shot a 12. I bet that was the start of a great night for them!!

In answer to the original question Ivenever seen a casino reject money plays on the outside - but I've never seen anyone try it at ElCo

Money plays at Monte Carlo, outside numbers for a one shot deal...if you are going to bet again they will make you buy chips.

Why not wake up and spend $100 on something you have been wanting for a while.

That way you are guaranteed to 1- spend the money and 2- have something to show for it.

I just bought an old motorcycle for $900.

You could save the money everyday and come home and buy one for yourself.

My brother in law use to do this all the time. Walk by "money plays." But he has not been able to for a few trips now. He tries, but they quickly change it out.

I remember on one of my early trips I was playing blackjack at a table with one other guy who ONLY bet cash for EVERY hand. It was insane, I was alone and it became a $100 table after I started only betting blacks and then this total southern California surfer looking dude jumps in and just starts betting stacks of $20s. He told us he thought it was good luck. We were in the pit right across from the cashier and after he ran out of cash he would take whatever chips he won and cash them in for another huge stack of $20s and start betting them again. He never took $100s, just $20s. This went on for hours. The pit boss pretty much stationed himself there the entire time to keep watch of the cash on every hand. I was surprised they didn't stop it or anything. The guy was hilarious though and we had a great time and almost went to a strip club together but I forget why we didn't go.
