Just curious, how do you use your free slot play? Do you play the same as you do with your own money or do you bet higher? I am taking Paris up on their $300 free slot play offer this weekend and am debating how best to use it. Normally bet 60/90, sometimes more, sometime less. Not able to take a lot of my own money this trip, so probably play pretty much normal for me. I'd love to take it all to the HL room though and win something big.
Or lose it all in 1 hour :grrr:.

I convert it to cash. Head for a full pay JoB VP and play max until the free play is used up, then cash out. I usually get about 65-75% conversion.

    Padietz ....

Ardee does exactly what we do. Find a good VP machine, and you only need to cycle your free-play amount once through, and all the credits/cash that you win along the way can be cashed out ... free money.

*** If you lose track of how much you have cycled through, just hit the cash-out button, and the machine will give you what you have won so far, and the meter will show how much you still need to play through (just once).

There are different answers depending on what sort of player you are.

If you are generally a SLOT player, then I treat it EXACTLY like cash and play the same way. After all, if is the same. Each dollar of freeplay gives you exactly the same number of spins as $1 of real money.

If you are generally a TABLE player, then there are two common options. Either just play a mid to high limit slot. Win or lose quickly, and move on. Or, play a lower risk such as VP and see what you can do.

If you are diehard VP player, then do VP.

For some reason that freeplay burns a hole in my pocket. I usually Hit up $5 slots and try to make at least one decent hit out of it. Even though I can play it slow and try to convert it to cash, I don't see it as my trip budget, I see it more as a bonus (so i want to parlay it into a big hit).
On my last 2 trips it worked out. The first trip I had 300 freeplay - played through the $300 then on my first spin out of my own cash I hit for $1500 hand pay.
The next trip I think I had $250 between my birthday bonus and regular freeplay. I played that and its winning on $1 and $5 slots for about 4 hours that night... so in theory I would have put that much in out of my pocket so it kinda did work out to even money... just wish I could walk away with some money in my pocket.

I like slots. I will find a good $1 reel slot like Monte Carlo and bet max on it. Also I use $100 on a progressive. Hitting for several hundred grand or millions on the casinos money would be epic. I know some would head to high limit areas and try for a big payout, but I would rather play awhile on their dime.

To have $300 last a full hour in the high limit room? That can be pretty optimistic :) :) :)

I get a lot of free play from MGM properties, from $50 to $350... what I do with it depends on a few things:

If it is a little amount, like $50-100, then I will just add it to my bankroll and use it like I normally would.

If it is a good sized amount, $150+, then I will save it to use it at the end of the first day, when I am heading up to the room for the night and what I do depends on how the days gambling went:

If my overall gambling went kind of poorly on the first day then I will run it through something like Spin Poker or 50 or 100 Play Video Poker and that will be almost like converting it to cash and I will add it to my bankroll over the next couple of days.

If my overall gambling went good on the first day and I still have a fair bit of money left or I have turned a nice little profit then I will use my free play at much higher limits than I would normally play, like maybe some 25c video slots ($5-10 per spin as an example) or higher, or play something like 50 Play Video Poker at 25c per credit ($62.50 per hand played).

Now that I play some VP I should just use it at as normal gambling money but I still have the mentality from my exclusively table game days to just blow the freeplay on a high limit slot hoping for a big win. Usually on a $10 Top Dollar machine. That machine has been good to me but I'm sure it's just a tease so it can ream me for serious cash some day.

I always play it on the best paying $1 JOB VP machines I can find. I cycle through the free play once and cash out.

I usually only up my VP play on DDB to $5.00 machines when feeling a lucky streak in process. When that happens I will take my full freeplay amount and cycle it into a round of $5.00 DDB VP, hoping for a big hit.

So far, this strategy has not generated any hand pays but there is always next time....

For those that cycle their freeplay through VP, what do you do with that money after that?

Am I the only one that cycles it through one of the blackjack machines at .25 cents per hand? It usually gives me plenty of oppotunity to play the machine and leave myself open for free drinks. Then once I've played it through once whatever is left I cash out. I usually take about 90-95% of it or more...sometimes I cash out with a tidy little profit. The drawback is on those BJ machines the rules suck. You can't DAS, sometimes you can't double down at all. BJ pays even money instead of 3/2. But I generally take a profit away from the machines when playing with free play!

My wife and I each have a "profit envelope" with us on each trip. If I play a session of VP with five $20's, and have a final profit of of $18, it goes in the envelope, and the $20's go back into my pocket. If I do a $10 free-play, run it through once, and cash out $8, it's all profit, and the $8 goes in the envelope.

Just back today - I had 100 FP at THEHotel, which I put through on a .25 reel, and walked away with fifty seven dollars after going through the FP. The other FP I had was the sign-up offer at The Cosmopolitan (lose a hundred and get a hundred back in Identity Play). Friend and I signed up for new Identity Cards, I went to a dollar machine, put in my card and a hundred dollar bill. Second hit I got six hundred dollars. Friend lost her hundred and then played her "refund". We walked out of there pretty pleased. Too bad it is a one time only offer!

Pretty much this. Whatever I convert goes back into the kitty for the next trip.

Well, then ... here's some good news for you ....

According to VPfree, you can play 9/6 JOB for quarters at Hooters and NYNY (also dollars).
There's 9/6 JOB for dollars at Luxor, and $2 - 9/6 JOB at Bellagio and Excalibur.

A few others on the Strip have it on $5 machines.

eloisegirl, you can still use the offer. It's one use (i.e. not one day). Since you made money the first day you could've gone back the next day and tried again until you lost $100 in any single day. So you can still use it if you go back to Vegas as long as you activated the promo at the desk.

Hooters is basically a technicality. It's like saying Ellis Island has $0.25 JOB. It typically isn't what people mean by "the strip". Circus Circus has even better options, if that's your cup of tea. And, can you use FP on the NYNY machines? I thought those machines didn't accept slot cards?

There is $1 JOB at the MGM Grand and T.I has it for $0.50.
