I hope they stay on schedule. We have a trip booked from the end of June thru July 4th. It sounds like fun.

Take THAT, giant Caesars slot machine!

Though maybe they'll get back and put a giant video poker screen up on the High Roller observation wheel. One Thousand Play Draw Poker, anyone?

The old zip line was fun, this should be cool. They had me at superman " in a horizontal "superman" position, and accelerating their ride using a new "power launch" system. "

Anyone know if the construction of the new zip line is still on schedule?

As of 2/1 the old zipline was still in place and operating. There was no obvious sign of any demolition or new construction.

Actually, they have moved the starting tower ahead a bit, closer to the corner of 4th street. This will allow them to build the new tower while still operating the current zip-line. There were a couple of guys painting markings and lines where the new tower will be built.

Here's the Slotzilla launch and landing areas under construction. The pic of the launch area is from the catwalk spanning Neonopolis and the parking garage on the south side of Fremont St.

The landing area will be all the way at the west end of the canopy. They had to move the Main Street Stage and now it's too close to the 1st Street Stage so on Thursdays YBR and Arena tell each other to shut up or play something good.

Maybe the next big thing will be a zipline or ski lift to the Strip.

They moved the old zip-line closer to the street to keep it operating while constructing Slotzilla behind it. So zip away on Saturday!

It is nearly impossible to walk Fremont Street anymore, with all of the blocked-off construction areas, outdoor patio bars, novelty kiosks, street performers, etc. People are being jammed against each other in narrow corridors in some places. Getting quite unpleasant. Keep your wallet in your front pockets!
