Are there still any roulette tables downtown that offer 25cent or 50cent chip games?

I don't care much about the table minimum. I just want to be able to shove stacks of chips around and build towers across the layout. :evillaugh

If anybody does 25 cent still it'll be El Cortez.

Four Queens does 50 cent chips... Fitzgeralds did as well last year, but I haven't been in since they finished the conversion to "The D"

A few places have video roulette for pretty low (nickle machines at Four Queens, most other places are 25c)

Thanks! Video roulette isn't as much fun for me. I completely understand that roulette has horrible odds, but there are times where it can be extremely enjoyable.

Yeah, I mentioned it just in case you were looking for some cheap roulette options and not just table game only.

I think too many people apologize for liking slots or liking roulette... and the odds really aren't that bad, all things considered.

Like, to compare it to blackjack: lets say you find a game with a 0.5% house edge, thats about as good as it gets... but if its a $5 table what possible bet combination can you make where you can only lose $0.025?

So we look long term: at 2.5 cents it takes 200 hands to reach one full betting unit. Though possible, I would say its pretty improbably that somebody could play 200 hands of blackjack at a 0.5% house edge and only be down 1 betting unit.

Also, the house edge has nothing to do with ones chance to win: it is the payout versus the statistical probability of an event happening. Betting a chip on black on a roulette table has a better chance to win than betting a hand in blackjack - yes, roulette would have the high house edge, but it is the bet more likely to win.

Main Street Station has 50 cent roulette.

    Table minimums are $3.00.

So you're suggesting that the math doesn't matter? Over 200 hands, you're probably right. Over a lifetime you're surely wrong.

BUT...consider that despite the HA, you only win 43% of your BJ hands (the reason the HA is lower is because you can hit a 3:2 payout or a double or a split.)

So if you had to play a single hand to try to double up, you'd actually be better off at roulette if you had a single zero wheel. And you'd only be a fraction of a percentage off if you were at a standard wheel.

On my last trip you could still get 50 cent chips at Fremont and MSS as long as you played $3 across the table. I'm pretty sure the Cal does too since the other Boyd DT properties do, but I'm not certain.
I've never been able to get anything lower than $1 elsewhere though.

In early Jan, on a Saturday afternoon, the El Cortez had .25 chips, a dollar minimum, and exceptional drink service.

Good way to spend a beer drinking hour or two.
