    Hi everyone!

My husband and I am planning to head to Vegas the last week of March and I was wondering how it is? I have only been there once before and it was in July 2011 so the weather was very hot but I think the crowds were low. My husband has been 2 more times but only in February for the superbowl.

I know March Madness is going on but the husband said its almost over by then but then I wonder if its alot of college kids on spring break? Also hows the weather? I know it will be better then at home in Chicago but will I need long sleeves and jeans at all? This has come up a bit last minute as we were originally planning to go in July again to celebrate my 40th bday but our oldest daughter may need back surgery in June so that idea was out of the question.

Anyways thanks for any advice given!

Out of the times I've been March is my favorite. Been 2 times in March and am looking at going again next year. Weather is right about 70 which is perfect for me. Shorts are fine, but i'd bring a pair of jeans just in case.

I go during the week so its never that busy, not sure about the weekends, in fact I've never been to Vegas on a weekend.

I've been there in march twice, usually the first week and temps are near perfect. Expect 70-80s in the day and 40-50s at night. Even at night I was comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt, I think the first night it was breezy and I wore a long sleeve shirt.

March and October are my favorite times. I usually go during the week also, so it's not bad as far as crowds. The ball games during March Madness are actually a lot of fun in the sports-book areas.

Hey DGR! the girlfriend and I are planning a trip to vegas the same week in March as you guys. My first trip to vegas was also in march and it was during the first weekend of the tournament and needless to say the strip was packed but I loved it. I agree with your husband and also think most of the people associated with the tourney will have been gone the week of the 24th but i am curious about the numbers of spring breakers that will be in town.

Las Vegas winds in March can be surprisingly strong at times. It's the windchill that'll get you, not necessarily the temperature.

The 27th-30th is the second big weekend for march madness. There are certainly fewer games, but still plenty of people out there for this. It really only affects the sportsbooks this weekend though. I'd expect the strip to be fairly normal. Spring break for most schools should be over by then as well.

Others have mentioned it can be cool at night. It is 50/50 if I wear pants or not. Generally during the day, shorts are fine as it is common to be in the mid 70s. It can get down to low 50s late at night though. You will have a better idea when it gets closer if you are hitting a heat/cold wave or not. I think it is one of the perfect times go go there for weather. It is very comfortable walking the strip during the day.

The biggest downside is if you are very very interested in hitting the pool. This can be hit and miss. While 75 isn't bad, depending on the wind, it just may not be comfortable sitting out there. My family has never had an issue with this and I simply am not a pool person(Why lay around with there is an open BJ table?). :)

Thanks this is very helpful! Im sure the weather will feel great compared to Chicago but the pool might be out of the question as you say. We are not big on laying around a pool cause there are just too many other things to see and do in Vegas:thumbsup:

Love going in March. Temps are nice during the day, and cool at night. Perfect suit weather.

One of our trips is always in late March and it is my hubby's fav time to go. Not too hot but very nice. This past March 1 day was so windy that some people had trouble moving at the top of the escalators...it was so funny to watch everyone and their reactions...really high winds and it caused some delays in flights taking off. We arrive on 3/27 & know to always bring some jeans and leggins for the cool nights and always carry a light jacket. Since several of us will be there the same week - maybe we can work up a small "meet". Good luck and hope you have a great time!

Thanks so much! I will keep that in mind about the wind for sure! We leave for home on the 27th and thats when you arrive so I guess a meet is out. Have a great time, I know we will!

My b-day is March 15 so it is my favorite time to go and right around St Pattys day. The weather is always good, not to hot or too cold. I would definitely recommend it.

late march is usually beautiful for us.

no guarantees though as we found out a couple of years back.

we were there may long weekend and a cold front came thru and the shops were all packed with people buying up all the jackets and hoodies (us included)
