I got the american casino guide for my next trip and have added up how much free play and match play coupons i have to use.. here are the coupons i have..

    free play
    10$ ellis island
    5$ gold coast
    10$ hard rock
    10$ hooters
    10$ GN
    5$ lvc
    10$ el cortez
    5$ plaza
    =65$

    match play
    5$ match play ellis island
    5$ match play gold coast
    10$ hard rock
    10$ palms
    5$ tuscany
    10$ riviera
    25$ goldengate
    5$ lvc
    10$ plaza
    10$ orleans
    =95$

poker 60$ for 50$ at GN

so thats 170$ in coupons.. How would you maximize turning these into cash??

On the match play i was thinking i could play either single zero roulette and bet on both black and red to offset the freeplay.. Or do the same on a mini baccarat table..

On the free play i was thinking .05$ or 1$ video blackjack and as soon as i run the free play through cash out??? anyone have any better ideas??:nworthy:

Most of those places do not offer single zero roulette. And most places will not allow you to make offsetting bets to guarantee a profit. Even if you walk up to the table with a buddy there is a good chance they will not allow an offsetting wager by your partner. You're probably best off just playing these at the highest EV table game, typically BJ.

For FP, the strategy for maximum cash return is to play the highest EV game allowed. However, in many cases this could be simply 1 spin on $1 VP or 4 spins on $0.25 VP which will result in large variance. If you need cash now and are willing to sacrifice EV, then find the cheapest VP game.

re: Free Play. I always treat EXACTLY the same as cash. If I have $10 to play for the day (or whatever)... I play it the same way. Never understood why people use freeplay different than if it was cash in their pocket.

This is not to be confused with those that ONLY play table games or VP. It assumes one would play some slot play.

    That's the problem. I don't play slots

For the match play, you could do it like I do. Bet on a hand of blackjack. Put down the match-play. Watch the dealer get 21. Leave.

Just pick some machine and play it through. Better bet are the older $1 machines vs newer penny slots, or theme slots. Or just go for all or nothing and play the mega millions.

As far as match plays....the first time I went to Vegas with my now wife we had a really tight budget so we did offsetting bets on roulette and fortunately didn't get zeroed or double zeroed the whole trip. Now that we have a bit more of a gambling budget we still do roulette for the coupons but one of us does red or black and the other does odds or even. We have a chance (in addition to the chance of zero d zero) to lose both but more often than not one of us wins and we just add the winnings to our gambling budget for things we prefer.

If your goal is to just clear free play and pocket the money you really should be playing the best pay table jacks or better you can find. Another option would be video blackjack.

Again do you just want to pocket the free money or do you want to gamble with it?

Video poker is what I usually use my FP on. Try to find the best pay table.

allinpflop mentioned video blackjack. I would definitely NOT recommend video blackjack because if you are dealt a BJ on this machine, it only pays 1:1 and not the traditional 3:2. This 1:1 payoff puts the player at a terrible disadvantage, increasing the house edge 10x by that of a regular 3:2 table.

You'll spend more in bus fare and cab fare getting to all of those casinos
than what you have available in match or free play........

But if you don't play video poker, BJ with 1:1 odds is still better than any slot machine on earth.

Video BJ would almost guarantee a 1 for 1 return on your freeplay at the .25 level but nothing more. With VP you'll have more variance and obviously with slots even more. The 1:1 payout for blackjack is virtually irrelevant.

For the matchplays I'd do blackjack. Only a 48% chance of losing a given hand (but 9% for a push)

But I also agree that driving around getting to these places is not worth the effort unless u are going there anyway.

VP will play well over the long run. With $5 FP, that is another story. And, if you do not normally play, or know how to play well, the odds drop FAST.

As to driving around, standing in line, etc to get $5-$10 play is a waste of time for me. I do understand that others think it is fun and worth it. That is cool.

Yeah, I don't see much point in a special "strategy". None of these dollar figures are worth enough to try and game the system just to get money, once you've gone out to all these casinos to play.

Play what you like. And as a fellow non machine player I'd only do the free play at places I'm visiting or on my way anyway, and then just play it through as quick as possible.

I don't normally play slots, so when I get free play I usually head to a $5 machine for a few spins and hope for the best.

Once I was down to my last $10 on a $5 WOF, hit the spin and cashed out $250.
