Whoo hoo! Leaving for Vegas in a couple of days!:banana:

My question: If our flight on a Wed morning leaves at 9:30 a.m. when should I get in a taxi to get there? We like to arrive at the airport at least 2 hrs. before departure.

We've always took the red-eye home so we didn't stress the departure time much. It's just that we don't know how bad traffic is on a weekday in the mornings.

Any info will be much appreciated!

Whoo hoo! Vegas here we come, lol!!:woohoo:

I normally leave about 2 1/2 hours before departure from The Golden Nugget to the airport. I get there in plenty of time.

Traffic and be hit or miss and also getting through security can sometimes be a hassle. I've gone right through security without waiting in line and I've also waited an hour in line going through secuirty at the airport.

Hope you have an awesome trip!

I also like to get there 2 hours ahead, so I would get a cab at 6:45-7 AM.
Gives me time to relax with a couple of cheap airport beers.:evillaugh:beer:

6:45-7am seems reasonable to me. I took a cab to the airport in March cause I had a 7am flight so wanted to be at the airport at 5. Cab finally arrived about 4:30 and told him to go via paradise. I was there before 5 and the airport was like a ghost town! Not much going on at that time but I'm sure it's hopping by 8 or before. Incidently, fare was about $25 or so (fr Gold Spike)plus tip,

You are so right on that lol! I hope the tears are tears of happiness if I happen to hit the big one!

Seriously, thanks to you and all the others who helped me out on this particular inquiry. Your taxi fare approximation is appreciated too.:nworthy:

I'm like you in that I like to allow plenty of extra time at the airport. It doesn't happen often, but I've encountered a couple snafus over the years where even allowing an hour before departure wouldn't have been enough. (I'm talking about very slow luggage inspection where a false "explosive residue" alarm set off a red flag, once when the boarding pass kiosks for all Delta flights weren't playing nice, resulting in ridiculously long lines at the counter, and a few equally stupid occurrences. I'd rather spend the extra time taking my time and catch up on emails.

BTW Joe, where did you get a "couple of cheap airport beers?" Not that I usually have any taste for alcohol left by the time I'm leaving Vegas, but the last time I had a beer at McCarran (while killing a little time before the "limo" (WAX) arrived), it cost around $10 with tip!
