Atlantic City best restaurant

Anyone here that can give thoughts on the best Total Rewards restaurant?

We had dinner at Scarduzio's once...bad experience, won't go back.
From the waiter who acted like he was doing us a favor to the uneven cut of steak that wasn't cooked properly, sent back, only to get an even worse piece of meat... no thank you!

There was a Hooters in AC some 5 years ago, and I think an Applebee's is still there. I mostly eat at either buffets, or those small Gyro/hot dog/burger joints on the boardwalk.
Ever been in that joint whose walls are covered with money? Cool place, good food.

 

The best restaurants I have been to in AC are not in casinos. Make sure you grab a sub at white house subs. Their special (italian sub) is fantastic and stuffed! If you had more lead time you might score a reservation at the best restaurant in the city, but that usually requires 2-3weeks notice(chef vola's).

 

I have had over 100 dinners in AC. Here are my favorites:

For Italian, I love Il Mulino. Excellent food, beautiful service and a lot of nice touches. You get a lot of little extras to nibble while waiting for ou ordered meal (fried zuccini, mussels, cheese, great bread). Portion sizes are huge (and i am a big eater) my wife and I will order one salad, one pasta and one entree ad split them all. A little pricey, but worth it.

Steak - skip the Palm and other chains. Check out the Old Homestead at the Borgatta. Great steaks huge side dishes. Very nice room and great service.

At Revel, I had a great dinner at Azure and a great lunch at lunch at Amada. Two very different places. Azure is a pretty room with very good seafood and nice service. Amada is a tapas place with a nice vibe and a beautiful daytime view of the ocean. I was very disapppointed with American Cut Steakhouse - inattentive service and unever quality - overcooked steak but incredible lobster appetizer.

Others:

At the Borgatta, I love Wolfgang Pucks but am not a fan of Bobby Flay or Fornelleto. Sea Blue is good as well.

Arturos in Ballys was always one of my favorites. Have not been there in a few years.


Outside of the casinos, I have had great meals at Girasole. But the last time there servicewas terrible and embarrassing to me and my five guests. I have a letter of apology from them so I may give them another shot.

Forget about the Knife and Fork.

 

we've been going to AC for YEARS and have never tried a White House sub, I keep hearing that they're worth while and since we'll be getting in later on Friday we may just give this a whirl

 

we have been to Amada in old city Philadelphia on a few occasions and love the food, have also enjoyed Village Whiskey at Revel quite a few times
when we first tried Garce's taco truck we were thrilled, but have been underwhelmed on return trips

our favorite place so far has been Dock's Oyster House, excellent service and very good food... thank you for your recommendations!
(however we did have two very nice dinners at the bar at the Knife & Fork, so I'm wondering when you ate there last?)

 

They had closed down for a while about 15 years ago. A huge squable among the family members that owned it. It re-opened and I happened to eat there three times over the course of maybe 2 years (I would guess 2002 and 2003) - once with my family of 4, once with 3 business associates and once with a large group of about 20. The food was OK, the service about a b minus - but the place itself just seemed old. To me it was surviving on its traditional reputation. There are too many much better options in AC in that price range.

 

Get the White House special, almost too big for one, and I have a healthy appetite. We also like Angelo's, which is close to the White House, its red sauce Italian, prices are decent and they have a parking lot; not in the category of best, but a favorite that I would return to.

As for the Knife and Fork, we went there for the first time a few months ago and I would go back for a special occasion. The place is 100 years old and we were given a brief tour by one of the waiters. Back in the day, the third floor was kind of like a lounge where the men would have a cigar and a brandy. The women were relegated to the porch with a view of the ocean, a real throwback to a different time. The food was decent and the service was great and the atmosphere was excellent.

 

White House is a must, we have a trade show in AC every year. While we build our Booth we always have one of the guys drive over there and grab a bunch of subs, we do the same the day we break down the booth.

For dinner, I love the Old Homestead. We went to a family style Italian place in the Tropicana that was great for a big group. I just can't remember the name of it.

 

Probably Carmines.

 

Luke Palladino was the owner/chef at Forneletto (at the Borgata) back when it was called Ombra. After he left, and the name changed to Forneletto, it wasn't quite as good but I still like the ambiance of the restaurant, which looks like you are dining in a wine cellar. Luke Palladino is a very good chef so I am sure his new restaurant at Harrah's Resort would be a great choice.

Since you specifically asked about Total Rewards spots, Luke Palladino is the only place I can recommend since I have eaten his food before (and usually eat at either Borgata or the Latin Quarter at The Tropicana) , but if you are open to other places I would also put in a vote for Sea Blue at Borgata which is a Michael Mina restaurant and is one of my favorite restaurants of all time (just as an FYI there is also a Sea Blue at The MGM Grand in Vegas as well as the self-named Michael Mina at Bellagio and his American Fish at Aria.) If you do give Sea Blue a try, the lobster pot pie is to die for - it is his signature dish and is beyond amazing!
