    Hi guys,

I will be travelling to Vegas and staying at Cosmo this weekend. The last time that I went to Vegas was in 2007, so I would like to get some tips for my trip.

    - Starbuck? I am a morning coffee person, so would like to know where is the closet to get a starbuck coffee at Cosmo hotel.

    - Food? I will have a rental car, so I don't mind to drive out from the strip if any good food out there. Any good suggestion for food that is not too expensive for both on the strip & outside the strip.

    - Buffet? I have tried the spice market, bellagio buffet and Paris. Any other good suggestion?

I would appreciate for other tips on where to go & what to do..

    Thanks....:peace:

Also, I am planning to drive to Fremont Street in the evening to watch the lights show. Is it safe to drive there at night? Any free parking there?

    buffet

You got starbucks at Monte Carlo and Planet Hollywood and for buffet you have to go to Bachanal at Caesars thats the best buffet in Vegas by far.

Affordable food? Lots of options downtown for that. But even though some of the Cosmo restaurants are pricey, a few do some really great lunch deals. There are some good options at Miracle Mile too. I guess it kinda depends on where you are going. Once you are off the strip, you are in a position to plan meals around your general destination. I've almost never gone somewhere only to have an affordable meal.

Buffet? Wicked Spoon at Cosmo was one of the most buzzworthy buffets until Bacchanal opened.

    Park at Main Street

Park at valet at Main Street Casino, a tip is all that has ever been required for me. It's safe enough.

Thank you for the advice. Is there any other place worth to visit near Las Vegas? I have driven to Grand Canyon during my last drip.

believe it or not but from 2007 - now ... starbucks are everywhere !

although the prices are increased when on the strip. Since you have a Car you can drive down on paradise and the starbucks directly behind the strip is cheaper.

Main Street Station buffet is GREAT and only 10.99 ... dont let the price fool you the food is delicious.

If you want to get away from the strip for a bit.

Try Chicken Now in the Vegas Outlets North (on lv blvd) seriously some of the best chicken tenders / strips / fingers whatever you call them. Price is worth the meal.

Also, I am planning to go to the LV Premium North Outlet & LV Premium South Outlet. How many outlets are close to the strip?

At Cosmo the secret pizza joint is good for lunch or a late night snack. Milos has a great lunch special during the week and Comme Ca has one on the weekend. I enjoy DOCG and the Henry.

Since you'll have a car I'll suggest the buffet at M Resort. Driving downtown is no sweat. Valet anywhere and tip or parking is free in most garages with validation. Just walk up to the cage and stamp your parking pass. Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam and Mt Charleston are all close by. The Wetlands Park is neat, as is the Spring Preserve and trails around Lake Mead. Further out you can visit Death Valley, Area 51, Zion or Bryce. LA is only 3 hours and San Diego is 4.5.

    Off-strip eats:

    Casa Di Amore
    BabyStacks Cafe
    Custom Built Pizza
    Komex
    Firefly
    Cafe Volare
    Big Wong
    Los Tacos
    Surang Thai
    Archi's Thai Kitchen
    Sushi Mon
    Hokaido Sushi
    Ellis Island
    The Fat Greek

I think they all require pay-to-park or validation ( some don't require play but you have to find the validation machine ). What was being suggested is that Valet parking at some of these places only requires a tip ( no surcharge ) and thus can be a lot less expensive than the self-park fee is.

Downtown I like the 777Brewpub at Main Street Station for casual eats - all the locals I know eat there when downtown.

As for downtown Buffet, the Main Street is overrated in that it is cheap stuff IMO. The Golden Nugget is much classier and better quality IMO. They have 2-1 coupons all around for it too now. Their Champagne Brunch is superb - and not as pricey as most Strip ones.

There are 3 options at Main Street. As mentioned, valet and then tip.
#2 is the surface lot behind The Cal. If there is an attendant, then you pay the $3 and have to take your ticket to the cashier (at MSS) for reimbursement. If there is no attendant, the gate will be up and it costs zero. Enter on Steward Ave, right behind The Cal.

If you are staying at Main Street, just show your room card and it is free all the time.

#3- pull into their parking garage which is free at all times, but a little tight on the parking places. It is at the north end of the casino property. That is 2 blocks from Fremont St.

The Wicked Spoon Buffet at Cosmo is excellent. The new buffet at Caesar's is on my "must try" list for my next visit. With a car, a drive all the way south on the strip to the M Resort will also reward you with a wonderful buffet. On your way to or from the M resort you could loop through Red Rock Canyon...a very nice drive.

I think Hoover Dam is an awesome sight to see, but it's a half day trip and you're only in Vegas for 3 days, so maybe wait until a longer trip?

I guess most of hotels in downtown have free valet parking. How much do you guy normally tip?
When you say the surface lot behind The Cal, are you referring to the california hotel?

I will be arriving at Las Vegas around 6:00 pm this Saturday. I am planning to go to downtown for dinner at night time. I may try some of the cheap buffet there. Any good prime ribs suggestion?

    Yes, The California Hotel.
Valet tip, couldn't tell since I never use it. But reading the posts here, it sounds like $2 is a reasonable amount.

I saw a mention of the MSS buffet. I agree, great food really neat place with all the historical stuff in there.

Mix Lounge at MB is also a cool place to eat, with great views.

I can never say enough good things about Mon Ami Gabi.

If you are looking for pizza, I highly suggest Grimaldi's in the Venetian. I went there my last trip and was suprised at how good it was. The service was so friendly as well. Since I've been back, I've wished numerous times there was one by me!

I would highly recommend the prime rib at The Redwood, inside The Cal. My sister in law had it two weeks ago and it looked delicious. 1# $24, includes sides.

But there might be quite a wait w/o a reservation on a Saturday night.
